just found out a 60amp alternator for my car is $389....... the motors arent even worth that much! ah well looks like ill be clutch starting it for years to come

clutch starting?
thats fine.. the starter motor will work with no alternator.
also it will run... for a while..
untill the coil and any other accessories y ou have on drains the battery
then hello misfire central, and stop.

the auto elec said theres no use getting a normal one, the system will just destroy it, and being unsure wether im selling it or not makes it difficult to decide on what to do. (if i do sell the system will be removed and a standard alternator fitted which is around the $120 mark).

the car had 2 15s and 2 amps. right now it only has a single 12 and single amp and the alternator is still dying from this.

Get a Lexus 1UZ 100A/120A one from a wrecker.
Or a 7MGE auto 80A one from a wrecker.
They both use 6rib belts, but the 5ME uses twin single V belts, and the pulley should bolt on.

i wish i could go all out on performance....... but wen u got a 2yr old girl and single it gets kinda hard most of my audio gear is from previous cars ive owned.....
ive just had a quote done for a standard alternator (reco) fitted and all for around $165......
