If that is happening, then you are obivoulsy not using the correct jack.
Those points are only for the factory scissor jack, or a jack with a "U" on the top of it.
You don't use a jack with a flat lifting position on those points.
To fix, just pull the metal back with pliers/vicegrips

Yes, I and others were using a trolley jack. It was so much easier.

If you want to use a trolley jack, use it on the crossmember mount (ie the big round thing in the first photo) or just jack it from the diff like I do.

I think it was the easiest point to use at the time as the car was very low. Cheers for your input.
So bending it back with pliers? That doesn't sound like it will turn out very neat.

yep - jack from the diff or crossmember if using a trolley jack. The listed jack points are only for you if you are using the factory supplied scissor jacks.

its like using tap water for coolant, sure it will
work but it will stuff it up over time. screws for
screwdrivers, paint for paintbrushes.
iv seen many people use quick and easy trolley jacks
to lift the car but only where it will mount properley,
like under the diff etc.
as its been said use the u jack for your "u jackable"
mounts
cheers

What if you want to jack up the front of a car? With a trolley jack?

I don't know how good this is, but I use the middle off the crossmember (make sure you don't get the sump in the dark )

This is the type of thing that you will be made to fix if you are defected and sent for inspection.

So how do you plan to fix them properly, other than tying to bend them back with pliers which will look dodgey?

Pliers, then dolly and hammer to get them looking straight. Rub some dirt and mud in and they won't know the difference!

Who would defect a car for something as trivial as that?? It's hardly a safety issue...

i guess with the designs of the scissor jacks you could say its much less stable without the Central support on the car, anything other than level could result in jack sliding offage?
