Scary. It doesn't really specify which computer, I think it's the GPS one.

Lexus cars may be vulnerable to viruses that infect them via mobile phones. Landcruiser 100 models LX470 and LS430 have been discovered with infected operating systems that transfer within a range of 15 feet.
"If infected mobile devices are scary, just thinking about an infected onboard computer..," said Eugene Kaspersky, head of anti-virus research at Russian firm Kaspersky. "We do know that car manufacturers are integrating existing operating systems into their onboard computers (take the Fiat and Microsoft deal, for instance)."
It is understood the virus could affect the navigation system of the Lexus models, it transfers onto them via a Bluetooth mobile phone connection. It is still unclear which operating system the cars in question use.
"At this stage it's still early but it just goes to show that technology has consequences," said David Emm, senior technology consultant at Kaspersky. "It's scary stuff."
Vulnerable operating systems are increasingly moving onto a number of different devices. Last year the Slammer worm infected 13,000 Bank of America ATMs as a result of them moving to a Windows-based operating system.
"I've even seen screenshots of major commercial aeroplanes with Windows 2000-based operating systems," said Mikko Hypponen, director of anti-virus research at Finnish firm F-Secure. "Cars are an obvious target for viruses. It's okay if you don't use the operating system for the engine and the brakes, but when you do..."
Bill Gates is a known Lexus driver. In 1999 he auctioned one for charity.
When contacted Lexus declined to comment.

There's another reason I still don't like blue tooth.
Anyways, the actual car controlling computer should be a seperate proprietary system anyway. The only way to get into it should and always should be a manual wire connection, or a type of ROM burner, (you have to take the actual chip out).
It's stuff like security breaches though that will hold back or present nightmares into incorporating telemetry systems into cars.

Bloody car designers and car software development teams... Would this mean that the car alarm systems could be effected too??
This world is becoming overly stupid in terms of interference from other people... I remember 7-8 years ago u could HAPPILY surf the internet and only get pop ups from the web sites that featured them, not all this crap about how u can't even browse the net without 100 billion coming up, u do a scanware, it finds 200 and then u scan again 5 seconds later without even bein on the net and it finds another 10.. I say for these companies to fuck off and leave us alone, we pay for the internet we should be able to use it normally ...
Next they are gonna have spamware poppin up on GPS, tellin us the closest directions to Mc Donalds and the new burgers they have...
Why don't they update it to something reasonable in terms of spamware and tell us where the closest Naughty locations/red light districts may be located, oh and don't forget the strip clubs...
I can see the lawsuits already. headline "lexus owner injured when his ecu crashed because of windows xp problem, toyota onlookers grateful for stickin with good old ECU's"

Sounds like the kinda crap I get in my inbox. Seriously, if I want to know where something is, there are directories for that shit.
Problem is they're not telling you where it is, they're trying to tell you that you want to go there, regardless of if you want to or not.
