They look like basically the same setup aside from the different calipers (which if I'm not mistaken are the same volume anyway) and the slightly thicker discs..
This article (if you haven't already seen it) might give you some good ideas. Of particular note is the fact that you may not need to machine the discs (in your second option) down quite as far if you're going to be running 15" or larger wheels..
Your second option is basically what I PLAN on doing when I finally get around to it, although I'd be wanting to try and keep the discs as large a diameter as possible.
sorry my bad actually the disc currently is machined down to about 260mm and the article suggests 262mm so i don't think 2mm is going to make that big of a difference. Also the reason I am asking this is basically is it better to get higher temp rotors to be used with high temp brakes pads or is the stock rotor sufficient enough even though stock rotor temperature rating will be lower than those of say the DBA rotors.
If you head over to DBA website and read about the thermo-graphic temperature monitoring feature you can see that their rotor have higher temp rating but that is applicapble for the 4000 & 5000 series rotors. Haven't found the exact rating for the DBA slotted yet but a friend told me it should be around the 500deg range.
