not to sure about the price difference, but the jap one has the starter and slave on the drivers side where as the aussie ones have it on the passenger side, which is a pain when running a big exhaust and turbo as the extra heat on the components are not appreciated!!

It's only the bellhousing that's different, not the box. Also, it's only the clutch cylinder that's different anyway. Plus, a T50 box is useless if you want to run a turbo engine. Getting the starter out of the way is a big bonus, as it gives you a convenient place to put a wastegate. The 'JDM' T50 will probably command some stupidly inflated price anyway, so why bother!

I just has a custom braided line fitted that comes off at a right angle instead of straight out so its right out of the way which negates the need for a JDM bellhousing.

jap bellhousing:
starter passenger
clutch driver

brendan@niteparts.co.nz sells a custom cast bellhousing to suit W55+ onto the back of the 4age.
We run these exclusively now, and they've held up to 187kW at the wheels turbo setups and lots and lots of flat changes, clutch kicks and crap from drags and track use.
