1800cc 20 Valve (7AGE) ---need help--- Sun, 06 February 2005 02:26 Go to next message
Yeah men, i'm from Barbados and i'm new here.
I read some of ur threads and seen that you've had this discussion already but...

i recently bout a 20 valve from a guy about a week ago, its the blacktop 5speed bz touring version.

now he told me it has in an 1800cc bottom half (7a block) under the black top.

now this feel reeeeaaall slow compared to the other 20 valves i've driven and gotten in.

i'm under the impression that he just put on the block and put back up. He put back in the blacktop pistons and tell me he has on a flywheel from the 90 pop up light corollas cause of something to do with it carrying 8 holes while the blacktop carries 10 or some sh!t.

i need to know right now how safe is my car and what should i do, as in i wanna pull down the engine and put back up.
it has in a trd stage 4 competition clutch and pressure plate.

what should put in, conrod/pistons/crankshaft/flywheel wise?
i have a paxton fuel pressure regulator to put in also. i still using the original ecu. what do u guys suggest i do???

Mate, What he said has nothing to do with it.... Two things I would say... Firstly, he may have just slapped the head on the 7AFE bottom, which means it has no comp (Try around 7.5:1?!)... or your CAM timing is way out... you can't just set the cams as if it was the same as a 4AGE bottom, you actually must measure the lift@TDC, you need vernier gear's as well to get it right... otherwise they are a dog!! ie your problem.... what ECU?, 7A or 20V? I don't use these either, though things do still run if you use the 20V.

its still using the stock 20 valve ecu.
so ur saying get my cam timing checked and i heard that most of my power will be available between 5700 and 7200rpm dont go any further than that.

i want to bridge the computer to advance timing whats the code?

blacktop has 8 holes in the flywheel(7afe has 6)... so the 4age one wont fit the 7afe cranks... unless its redrilled to suit.. dont know if thats possible, or a good idea...

if i was you id be looking for a 7afe to look at, compare the block castings etc.. that way you can be sure it does actually have the 7afe shortblock init
