bought my seca already had a replacement engine in there. car 230k, engine ~140k and the engine is pretty average. chews oil like its going out of fashion and also i'm fairly certain that the sump gasket has a slight leak..... oh well spose i'll just save up for a 20v hehehe

my old celica had around 250K on the clock, the last 50K of those were done in typical Greg fashion (foot to the floor everywhere), and it was stll going (although, as Joorsh put it, I may as well have just added the oil straight into the fuel tank and saved myself the hassle).
I heard of a 22R engine in the states which had 350K miles on it, with nothing more serious than standard servicing stuff done to it.

my old daily drive ke70 had 315k on the clock.
drove it with no air filter (should know better, being a mechanic and all!)
used to do massive skids, brand new tyres to bang in two minutes (open wheeler) sitting at 6000 rpm.
the 4k loved it. now the car is a convertable!!!!! no roof, all it needs is another engine. finally gave way, cause of all the crap going in the engine i think. might post a pic of the convertable conversion

Recently for a UNI piss-up day we did an 'engine endurance test' for which I got hold of a 4AC from an AE82 corolla. We set it up on the ground with some stakes holding it upright with a jerry can feeding fuel into the carby.
Results:
We ran it for just less than 5 mins on full throttle with NO water and very little oil. The thing cooked like a mother but just kept on going. No one could believe it. After 2 mins she was blowing so much steam all the little remaining oil sprayed everywhere...but still kept going until she fillally seized.
Finally we pulled her apart after an hour of cooling to find a massive hole inbetween the 2nd and 3rd cylinder in the block and the bottom end was all seized up.
All the other uni bogans reckon it was by far a record from many previous years of using a holden 202 motor.

i had a 1968 landcruiser that had only ever had oil and filter change in it's life.
The clock had 6 digits on it and by the time i had it i was told it had been around the clock more than 10 times.
and it was in MILES !!!!
the motor ran fine up untill the day i took it out.
i was impressed when i found out for the 1st 5 years it had never seen the light of day (it was used in a mine).
it still runs today but it has a different motor and gearbox but other than that there is no problems chassis wise.
Also my mate has a SA63 with over 370,000 on the clock and the only thing that went wrong was a timeing belt snapped.
and this car has been well and truly flogged.

My GF's KE70 has over 240000k's on it. Goes fine. Doesn't even leak oil.
My Vienta Touring V6 has 189000k's and goes real hard. Pumped out 101.7kW@wheels- Stock.
Just thrashed it for 17 laps at Wakefield Park, didn't even raise a sweat.
GO TOYOTA!

Ive had my KE70 for 2-3 months, sitting on 166,000kms at the moment, due to the 4ag coming soon in the future ive been absolutely thrashing the f**k out of the 4k for the whole 2-3 months, and in many situations in the wet have been ripping it up at 7000rpm (not keeping it there long obviously). Anyway my point is... any holden or ford engine would have blown weeks/months ago, yet the old 4kc is still going as strong as when i got the car!
Toyota motors just keep going and going and going and going... just like energizer batteries

on my old celica which we have had since 78,it has been clocked 5 times and has 78k on it now so thats 570k same engine, rebuilt once to get some performance out of it rather then needing saving, but we have done the head gasket on it a couple of times..bloody good engine!

Hehehe... we've had Toyotas in the family for the last 20 years... never gonna go to another brand
our old Tarago (1988) bought brand new had 247xxx, sold it off because my parents wanted something new... it had a manual tranny
Their current car (99 Tarago) bought brand new, has 130xxx or so on the clock, a lot of it is thrashing from me back in my red-P days... still overtook cars on the way down to Batesman Bay... with 8 ppl on board doing 4.5K RPM in 3rd gear up the hills
My car (93 Soarer) bought with 76000kms, now has 182xxx kms (owned her for the last 3 years) and hasn't missed a beat (blown turbo but that's it really).

my RA40 had
980 000 kms on the clock when i bought it
and even though its not toyota, my dad's datsun 1200 ute has been clocked over once(at least, maybe twice) and is back up to 250 000kms, so at least 1 250 000kms
that thing just keeps on keeping on with just basic oil + plugs + points every now and again

I had an AE82 sedan with a 4AC with 220,000 on it.
The radiator was leaking badly and needed to be topped up every day - not sure where the water was going, but any water I did have was dark brown. Anyway, I'd regularly drive it with no water and I also took it on a drive up to South West Rocks (5 hours both directions, straight) where it ran out of water on the trip. I also didn't check the oil for the whole year I owned it.
Despite my abuse, it never missed a beat.

Ke20 with 3k, used one fill of oil per 1000ks. 1 fill water per 1000k's. Spo was pretty randomly filled. Belonged to a mate for 8 yrs like that. Biggest load was 3 people, 14 scuba tanks, 3 tubs of dive gear plus other stuff squeezed in to jindabyne and back for a weekend. Filled in Syd, filled in Jindy for runninf around and filled before returning. Couldn't kill it. Built him a 5k left over from the rally car, blew up (dodgy piston) after 3000 ks so put the 3k back in. that was 7 yrs ago and we still see it going around.

my old 3sge had over 310000 on the clock and she had no oil leaks and was still putting out shitloads of power...and that was after a long abused life with very little maintnance..she finally seized after running a week without oil..drag racing without oil...then had oil put in her and was taken straight onto a dyno and seized at 5 and a half grand after 6 or 7 minutes....mind you i got another 3sge and it got rebuilt from the ground up and it only lasted 1800 ks

Hi,
Well u guys certainly have clocked up the miles. My old girl is almost 32 years old and she's only got 130,000km on the clock.
The head was overhauled in 1990 when she had 100,000 on the clock. So, she's only done 30,000k in the past 15years.
Over it's life the car has been very reliable. In that time it's had the head serviced (as mentioned), radiator repaired, master cylinder overhauled and a new water pump. Had to get a welsh plug fixed about 10 years ago. And, of course the air-con fixed a couple of years ago. Late last year I got the carbs overhauled 'cos they were pretty stuffed. The motor runs like a new one. It's only on it's third set of tyres. naturally, she gets regular maintenance, plugs, oil, filters, etc.
So, I can't complain about reliability or the car costing me heaps.

1st Gen 3S-GTE lasted 135,000kms before a big end bearing started to pick up and ruined the crank...now needs full rebuild. Was drinking around about 1-1.5litres of oil per 1000kms. I don't really consider that 'reliable' - car's service history probably too sketchy to point to a cause though as to why the engine had deteriorated so badly.

my 78 corona wagon with a stock 18rc has done 280,000 and that's with a rebuild i maintain the oil and coolant reguarly,
my old 73 crown had done shit loads of kays and we found it in a paddock with grass up our doors put a battery in it, 1 litre of fuel down its guts, and what do you know it started , (cow shit and other various materials came out the exhaust ),
and it was going till the day i gave it to Clint,
as for my 75 ke30 its done 230,000 but its had the 4k put in since then so who knows how many kays the 4k's done but it still goes hard
