hey guys i was wondering if anyone has done this conversion but put cruise control on an 18RG engine or any thing else that has Carbys.

If you are really serious about this then the 'best' way to tackle it would be to adapt a hand throttle cable and knob from a diesel engined 4WD and attach that to your carby linkages, in a way that does not interfere with the normal operation of the throttle pedal.
Really, if you just can't keep your foot on the pedal in one position for a long time, use a brick.

Or just buy an aftermarket kit and bolt it on.
There should be ones out there designed for carbies.

The hardest part will the speed sensor. I guess you could put a magnetic one on the prop shaft. The rest should be fairly simple to do.

Magnet on the prop shaft is how all aftermarket ones work.
The hardest thing will be hooking up a cable to the carby, as most kits are suited to the throttle body setup.
