icon6.gif  20v conversion on the loose Mon, 03 June 2002 03:32 Go to next message
Hi all

I am in the process of installing a 20 V (MAP) silver top into a 16v AE 92 SX rolla.

in changing the engine over how hard it is it to do the wiring?? from what i see the 12 pin plug is the only one that seems to need to be modified, bearing that in mind, how do i put/splice
that in with the standard AE 92 loom? Is there any places where i can get the pin outs Eye Spin and wire colour codes for both the 20 v 101 MAP sensor and AE 92 16 v map sensor engine.

is it hard to install A/C or abs, with all the accessories there to do it?? Keeping in mind I was told that ABS needs sensors, is that true?? Freak

silvertop 4ages are all afm, the ae111 blacktop 20v is the map sensored version.
club4ag and also this site i think have the ecu pin-outs for these engines.
i think it'd be easier to just use the complete loom and ecu from the 20v, which hopefully came with an air flow meter. also i doubt the 16v ecu would be able to run the silvertop to it's potential, if at all.

I agree, use the 20V loom and ECU, then sell me the 100kW loom Up To Something

i believe you can actually get a 20v running on a 16v ecu - but no vvt. why bother!

friend can do you a custom loom for your 20v conversion for $550 - make it a really easy conversion!!

It is a MAP sensor, believe it, i will take a pic for you if you do not believe it, the late model ones (95) got a map sensor, and that is why i am having difficulties.

The loom looks like alot of wires will splice into the 16v loom, but i need help here.

Freak well that's pretty interesting!
is the engine/loom out of a half-cut or did you get it from another private owner? possibly someone has used a blacktop loom and ecu to convert it to map at some stage.
if it's a 1995 model, which is when the blacktops came out, maybe it's some weird cross-over model that noone's heard of. i'm keen for some pic, not coz i don't believe you just because i've never heard of one before Smile
anyone know of specs for this engine??
