17's on a AE92 CSI rolla Mon, 14 February 2005 16:02 Go to next message
Okay got pulled over by some cops they said first open the door and they asked do you know what i'm looking for i had a bit of an idea but i said no just to make them think i had no idea what they were on about, but then was told the 17's had to go otherwise defect time.

Now from what i understand the SX model rolla comes standard with 15's. So what i was thinking of doing is finding myself a wrecked SX and taking the sticker off to put on my CSI rolla so the rims can pass because i understand you can have 2 sizes up and down i think it is.

But my question is is there another way to tell what size rims originally came on my rolla when it was bought brand new because if there is i might have to just downgrade to 16's instead not entirely sure yet.

Any ideas

Thanks guys.

17's should be fine, it's the tyre width that's the problem

and you CANNOT just put on SX decals, you'd have to change the VIN and everything else - and that is basically car berthing - a no no.

just sell the 17s and get a set of 16s

he's talking about putting the sx tyre placard on.

it may trick one or two people but if you want to get away with it properly. ring an engineer and ask them if they would pass it.

i always thought you can only go up/down 1", otherwise it has to be engineered...

To tell the size of the originals, look on the tyre and you'll se a few numbers such as 195/16R...That 16" is the size of the rims

Well i was told by these undercover coppers that it was 2" so unless they were pulling my leg you heard wrong.

I already know the original size of my old rims anyways.

I think i'll just do a downgrade.

Yep (at least to the 14" rim bit and 185s - can't rightly recall if the tyres were a 60 or 75 profile)
