AE86 diff conversion Tue, 22 February 2005 05:06 Go to next message
Can someone Help:
Is the T18 Diff can put in 86?
And is the Zenki LSD can fit the T18 diff?
And anyone know what final ratio is the T18 Diff?

Thank you

I kid you not sir...I've not had much exposure with the Celica's I know a Half cut shop that brings in a lot of Toys..some a celica's..so if it's a disc setup..I might go over and look see for myself.

sorry If I sound ignorant..that's cause I'm am as far as Celica's are concerned.

Cheers

whoaaa...take it easy Norbie..don't blow a gasket...i stated earlier..i'm not familiar with the T18...so now that it's establish as a corolla..then i guess there's no disc for the rear....Where i am the Corona TT141 is similiar to your Avante RT142..the big bumper version.

cheers

why is everyone obsessed with disc rear?? its not needed on such small light weight cars...

never had a problem with my sprinter
used a hilux diff with hiace drums, still retained a good reliable handbrake

if u really want disc, use ma61 style setup...

No, MA61 is IRS. I can't really see how those brakes could be adapted to fit a live axle.

Changing to rear discs doesn't do anything special for the handbrake does it? Wouldn't it just help with performance, reducing brake fade?

FFS, do a search, and you'll find

The T18 is essentially a corolla, Australian delivered, with a "T" series engine. The engine may be the reason people sometimes confuse them with a celica, since the 3TC is very similar to the TA22's 2T, whereas corollas at the time had K series motors. The vehicle designation is TE72. The picture you see in an earlier post above IS a T18.

The diff is a live axle T series, with the smaller diameter axles as found in the early Japanese AE86 Sprinters, and TA22/RA23 celicas. Early models do not have sway bar mounts, later models do. All versions have drum brakes only. The ratio of every T18 centre that I have had (lots of breakages) has always been 3.7:1

shiri you are wrong. the T18 comes in 3.7 or 3.9 only depending on auto or manual.
