ok, how?
any idea how to get the "slop" out of it then?, i can put my foot down about a 1cm before it even starts to rev, and the acellerator is very hard,
its my first car, but compared to driving me mates Gemini with a cable acellerator the wagon is shit..

with car switched off get someone to put foot on the pedal and look for movement.

by the sounds of it it has poped out of the pivot point on the firewall

ok then
well ill take a pic of the linkages tonite when i get home, but my setup looks alot different, the carby is on the righthand side above the Headers...the linkages run along the back of firewall, very weird setup, and is loose as, i dunno how to get the slop out,
but what i was aking, is it a easy swap to cable, or is there alot of modifaction to do?...

well linkages are meant be be the shite for
performance and response but they are so damn
overly complicated and messy, so a small amount
of wear on each link will add up to a fair bit
overall.

cable is sooo sweet and easy as to install,
i couldnt see a reason for linkages ever, unless
you are chasing 5% response which works until the
linkage wears a bit.

well thats my theroy, maybe there is another reason.
iv never had problems with cable, linkages are very
pricey in general and tend to wear and pop out around
corners Laughing

i also have the same car, just make sure all the linkages are tight, they have a left hand thread on one end and a right hand thread on the other, so if u spin the ltnght of rod, it will either tighten or loosen, just make sure they are all loose,

if the ball is flopping about in the joint, then either get a new ball and or joint or just put a little blob of grease in the joint.

btw, i have twin carbs and a linkage, if i stab the throttle very quickly the car will throw my head back and will hurt the fuck out of my neck, its mad Very Happy

linkage all the way

i used a MX62 cable and pedal.....works perfect although i have a 18rgu so i didnt shorten the cable (made for a 1g conv. Very Happy ) so it just does a loop sorta thing

two reasons i done mine;
1.sloppy linkages
2.leaked water down the rod into cab....suitable gromets arent available

cressida MX62 pedal literally bolts in with a little bit of ovalling the holes. a little twisting of the pedal is nessecary too.
also, i welded to bolts on the pedal that i can adjust the max depth of the pedal and the minimum depth of the pedal.

this is perfect for a 18R...corret length etc.

works very well
