Oil pressure sender 20v Mon, 28 February 2005 07:35 Go to next message
I have just bought a new oil pressure gauge and i am just wondering what the best way to remove the factory sender unit from a 4age 20v fwd. It is in a hard spot to get to from behind the power steering pump, do i have to take the pump/belt off or is there a trick, and what size is the standard sender bolt?

Thanks in advance
Simon

the oil pressure sender unit is on the exhaust side under the vvti solinoid in the block

might be tricky to get to if u have a/c

they use a special socket to remove just try to find one as close might do the trick

I changed mine over from a pressure switch to a sender when I had the engine out so it was easier. However, I still needed to remove the power steering pump and bracket (which from memory required me to removed the bolts for the A/C bracket too). I then used a 14 mm open ended spanner with a bend half way along it (heated it up with a porta gas torch) as per Jason Percel's suggestion in his report on how to install a 20v in a AE92 (see 4age.net). If you try spinning the body of the pressure sensor, you risk damaging it - hence the need for the modified spanner. Hope this helps.
