Tyre sizes...? Tue, 01 March 2005 13:57 Go to next message
Hi, I'm just wondering...don't know if this is a dumb question, but when talking any wheel sizes...there's often 3 numbers right? like...for example...205/65(?)/R16...? I'm thinking...or sorta know the 'R16' is the rim size..like...16" wheel right? But what do the other 2 mean? Do only certain tyres fit on certain wheels? obviously they should right? because wheels come in different widths...? what am I supposed to look for for a 16" x 7" wheel then...? Thanks.

ok...say you have a 185/60/R14 then you would have tyre width of 185, tyre profile (height) of 60, and then rim size you know is R14...

now thats cleared up.... what car are these rims on???

205 is tyre width, 65 is 65% of the width (65% 205) which is the hight of the side wall and 16 is the rim size.
