Im very dubious about this box being the same as the S15 box.
The S15 casing looks entirely different along with case lengths, shifter bousing designs etc. The S15 box has a reputation of being a bit weak, which might be incorrectly applied to this box too. I cant guarantee they arent the same but looking at both boxs I have to say I see no similarity anywhere.
This is an S15 box

Can't find the website that listed the models that used the Aisin 6 speed.
Your right - they don't look the same - perhaps the casing is made by the car manufacturer and it is the internals that they share.
Perhaps I had better edit the gearbox description and remove the 200SX from the listing.

Hey.
I think I talked to you ages ago about this box....or maybe it was somebody else!! anyway, i'd be interested in this box, as i have a 1G Celica that the box would go nicely behind.
Did it come out of your IS200??
Cheers nilezy

They may be similar boxes internally but they certainly aren't an interchangable item.
The bell housing is different, the ratios are different and the shifter is different.
I think this box is the same as the Altezza box except for the bellhousing though.

Well according to this little list from the manufacturers website theres no Nissan listed for the 6 speed at all. Only Mazda MX5 and RX8 and the Toyotas.

Gearbox was out of my IS200. Came off the back of a 1G-FE motor.
The bellhousing is part of the gearbox so probably can't be changed.

I'd say the AW5 is the W5x box.
The AR5 is the R15x box.
The AH5 is the H15x box.
The AG5 is the G5x box.

There has been lots written on this in the past. So lets get to fact not opinion. The J160 can be found in a IS200 behind either the 1gfe or 3sge (3sgte) (japan), it is also the same box as in the s15 and the honda s2000. Not sure if it ccan be found in a mazda, but would not be surprised. And yes it is an Aisin box. Note gearing varies depending on the particular motor characteristics, for example the s15 box is a little taller. Have a search I think that I put something up on that.
I have one fitted behind a 1ggte in a TA23 and did heaps of research before I undertook the conversion. May car put out over 200rwk before I put it away in a container for storage for 2 years or so before I went overseas last October. I am lead to believe that they may not have as much strength as the s14 five speed, but if you have a look at the performance mags you will find lots of s15s making heaps of power.
The bell housing is integrated to the gearbox so if you have a 2t/3t 1g you are in luck, or if you can get one of the 3sge ones that would work great for a conversion. Note that Charles Landwehr has made up an adaptor to a 4ag. Would be a great box behind a 4agte.
Remember the fitting into a ta/ra with a 2t/3t, 1g or 3s, while seemingly to be bolt up is not as simple as it sounds. Have a search and you will find that I put together an article in this forum about a year ago.
