There are a number of ways to skin this cat
1) Use a hammer and a cold chisel - the chisel should be sharpened at a wide angle and be biased to one side. Hit the nut in the 'undo' direction.
2) Use some stilsons (aka pipe wrench or monkey wrench).
3) Grind some flats onto the nut and use your favorite shifter/socket/open ended spanner
4) weld a bolt to the nut and just undo it.
When you get thinking this is not that big of a deal.

Haha YelloRolla didnt think there was so many ways of doing it, i will keep it all in mind for the future incase i loose my lock nut. Denends on your rim ive been able to get a set of vice grips onto the lock nut and have been able to loosen it that way, though depdends if your rim allows you to get into that part.

5) Bash a cheap socket that is a snug fit on to the lock nut. Undo.

chisel/monkey wrench/grinding wont work as they are set into the rim. it will also make welding anything onto it without stuffing the wheels imposible (wheels are simmons cost 2500) ill go past supercheap and buy a quality socket tommorow

bro had this problem with his mr2/ turns out (at least with the bloke he used - tyrepower in morningside brissy) a lot of workshops will have an old socket they use for this purpose - whack it on the rattle gun and away they go at the locknuts.
charge you a few bucks (in his case hed had tyres done so they did it for free) for the job, and takes em all of a few minutes id imagine. usually they'll use a dead socket thats useless to them so its not a biggie.
or any of the previous methods
Cheers

I did it by welding, You dont have to weld on a very big bolt, and oyu dont have to weld it very much. I managed to get a few of with some reasonably weak welds. Just find a mate who is good at welding

Yep, easiest and best option here - I did it the other week to a set of lock nuts.

I'll third that. Easiest way and it works.
Grab a socket and bash it onto the nut with a big hammer. Normally the sockets are a lot harder than the lock nuts, so they will cut a hex into it. Just go easy undoing the nut otherwise you will just strip your new found hex.
then throw away lock nuts, replace with normal nuts and invest in a big dog to guard your wheels
