i was very prepared to put a 1UZ into my ra23 since i was spending so much on the body i thought i might as well go all the way. However in NSW no such luck when i checked with a few engineers. Unfortunately the ra23 falls under the magic 1101kg mark so there goes the V8!

With the whole weight thing.. What happens if you made the car heavier and a weigh bridge certificate to prove that? As on my rego papers the weight of my car has changed since I got the engineer certificate/weigh bridge report.

Having a weighbridge cert is only useful if you are building a custom. If its a factory car then they go by the reported weight by the manufacturer.

Yep, im doing it.
It hasnt been 100% approved as yet though, as my engineer hasnt sent in the forms to the RTA.
He said it should be ok though.

its running a twin turbo kit on it with some massive tubed wheels! not too good to look at but prertty cool.

Hi,
Yeah, I heard about that 1UZ '28 also. Haven't seen any pics and I think it's mainly used for drag racing and not for the street - but I could be wrong.
I'd like to jam a Ferrari 328 engine into a '28, just for the hell of it. Though I think Ferrari engines aren't cheap - not as cheap as a 1UZ, and I'm not sure if they'd be much (if any) more powerful than the 1UZ.

I thought about it, but you can't beat the finesse and power of an 18RG!
However.... when I get my TA27 project car, that might be a different matter

wwhat kinds of things are required to be upgraded to put a V8 in a RA28/40...being that they are under 1101kg mark
obviosly brakes, but would strengthening of the xmember and the "box" chassis rails be required???
what do they do, just weld thicker plate over the existing "box" rails....and put in some webbing??
