 My 1G Needs A Rebuild...

It blows smoke. white smoke. a lot on startup then it reduces a bit. but it still always smokes no matter how long you drive it for.
does anyone know where I can get a rebuild kit from?
Pistons and rings
Bearings
Gaskets
I might source them through 680OST seeings as the mods rudely closed both threads about the group buy which was to help source very hard to find parts for our engines..
but yeah any help would be good.
I've got new valve stem seals waiting at home so I don't need them but that's not the problem..

isn't white smoke got to do with the turbo?
does it blow shitloads on boost?
blue smoke is oil so doubt you'll need piston rings

It could just be the valve stem seals... if it happens after vacuum (startup, idle, engine braking).
But you might not be able to just replace the seals, you might also have to replace the valve guides, if they are worn the seals will be destroyed in no time.

If the smoke is actually white, that's steam. Almost certainly BHG.
If the smoke is blue-ish, that's oil. Valve stem seals, turbo oil seals, or piston rings (increasing order of liklihood).

yes i concur with norbie, when my 1G had a leaky HG it would blow white smoke on startup, probably from water seeping into the combustion chamber and when the engine got hot and i pushed it white smoke would pour from the exhaust.
Most probably not the bottom end

What a great idea. While you're at it why not ask why he did not co-operate with the mods and try to get an approval for his group buy?

For $400 odd dollars you can easily find yourself another 1ggte and just plop that in rather than fart about with wat could be the problem

I had that exact thought today. I will probably do that.
it's not the turbo because I just got it back from a rebuild. it did it before the rebuild and it still does it now. when it hits boost it runs rich as (lpg) which obviously has to do with tuning. it stinks hardcore like lpg too.
I am not sure about the smoke colour when it hits boost because the dark blacky/blue smoke takes over haha.
white smoke is oil. my brother (mechanic) reckons it might be the piston rings as well.
ahh stuff it i'll just get a new 1G instead of pulling this one apart.

I only need the engine, no turbo's, injectors etc.
