ae92 4agze conversion queries... Wed, 27 November 2002 06:22 Go to next message
ok,

my bro is picking up his frontcut tomorrow and the only things he's not sure about now is the difference in the engine mounts, are the GZE ones bigger than standard SX ones?

also wiring it up, we are gettin a map sensed AE92 frontcut.
what needs to be done to make it work in a SX ae92 seca?
hoping that it all should plug in but i doubt it's that simple eh...

cheers

paul

The engine mounts are all the same, you will have no problem there.
As for the wiring, the only difference is the dash loom, so you will have to do some modifications there if you plan on keeping the SX dash, but you will be able to crank it over before that is done.

Don't use the jap dash or the headlight wiring from the front cut. Use only the engine loom. Some mods will have to be done to the interior plugs.

chcek out the forums here:
www.twincam16.com

int he general section, search for GZE and there are 2 multiple page threads by a guys "Jason Purcell" that have MANY pics on this very conversion.

else search these forusm here!

the Jap spec dash carn be used, but requires LOTS of modifications to fit.. its far easier to combine the two looms. REmembering the tacho booster is required...

its actually not that much work to make the jap dash fit...

you have to make a couple of brackets for the upper vent mounting points, and then shave a little off the front-edge of the dash where it meets the windscreen, then you have to modify the air-ducting to match up with the blower etc, then you have to make a couple more brackets and re-drill the mounting holes for the vertical supports down either side of the center console... you may also have to move the steering column mount to the drivers side by about 5mm to get the column centered properly in the levin dash plastics... there will be an article up at www.4age.net in a few weeks covering the whole conversion...
