piston head design Thu, 17 March 2005 20:27 Go to next message
howdy, can anyone provide me link to a site or some general information of the design of piston heads. Like the different grooves on them etc.

How can you tell if a piston is forged or not?

also can anyone tell me why there is a little groove cut out on these pistons i have. Is the left piston down the bottom.

The tell tale trade marks of forging are shown on the underside of the piston usually.

See this thread for sh!tloads of info on how to tell if a piston is forged or cast.

i think you will find a lot of information if you looked
up head design/combustion chamber types, interference/non
interference heads, high comp/low comp heads etc...
cast/forged seems to be covered already
