They have a different ECU and later versions run higher boost too.

well you could just up the boost.
as this differs from version to version.. I think that is the main contributer to the HP variations. the 210 version is at 10.5psi

The difference isn't just in the intercoolers.
Gen 2 got bigger injectors and bigger piping into and out of the turbo.
Gen 3 got a much more aggressive ECU.
They're big differences which make each consecutive generation capable of making more power with the same mods... ie: a Gen 3 at 14psi will make ~151kW while a Gen 2 at 14 psi will make 144kW or so.
Not sure of the differences once you start changing things like turbos and ECUs. But it's always safest to start from the best base (Gen 3).

Hey you guys
I would like any and everybody to reply to this
One I have a 1G-GTE engine in a 1990 toyota Chaser
I want to add on a power Extreme tuned exhaust from Trust-power
what else shpuld I do to get more power from the 1G-GTE and is there a way to avoid fuel cut off from the ecu through sinple inexpensive modifications, aslo
will a 3.0 fuel pump help in the upgrades seeing that the engine is basically 2.0l
also where on earth can I get aftermarket plug wires for this engine.
Any body please respond

A bigger fuel pump won't increase performance unless the existing one isn't up to the task, and if that was the case your engine would probably be toast by now. Most Toyotas have much larger pumps than they really need (eg Mk4 Supra pump is good for up to 600hp apparently) so you have plenty of headroom for mods before you have to upgrade it.

Helmann, no idea dude. Bring your car to the next dyno day.
1G-GTEFreAk, what size is your exhaust? How much boost you running? For spark plug leads, try Magnecor. They're one of our sponsors so check the sponsors section for more details.

I currently have a 1g-gte gen 1, would I be able to swap just the gen 3 engine straight over without changing the ecu?

Helmann
By memory, my 1G has yellow ECU and Grey injector plugs, It is pretty much stock, except for 2.5in mandrel exhaust and pod type filter. It put out 111kw at the wheels.

Nup.....You will have heaps of problems as most of the plugs on the wiring harness won't fit.
