Hey
Just wondering how/if its possible to change standard steering to power steering and is it worth it? If so, how much would it cost and what would be needed? Any ideas. Thanks to all.
Thanks
Troy

yes its possible if the car came out with powersteering, or might still be possible if it didnt.
How long is a piece of string?
you havent said what car it is so who knows howmuch it would cost

you'd need power steering pump, bracket lines and powersteering rack
and probably a few other things.

Why, oh why do you need P/S in a small light RWD car like a KE55? If the steering is heavy get it checked out, it should be light as a feather if everything is in good condition.

hmmmm interesting that you want power steering because
the ke corollas suspension setup makes very light steering
and cars with power steering have it because the suspension
setup is usually better but hard to turn, hence power steering.
early ke corollas are recirculating ball and didnt come
out with power steering as optional
so its gonna be a custom job.
so its gonna be one difficult expensive custom job Rolling Eyes

Well, if you want it to drive nicely, look at fitting a rack in there, and in the process your steering will become lighter as well as far less sloppy. Then stick a quick rack in it to tighten it up again Very Happy

What does power assistance have to do with handling?? All it does is reduce steering effort, it doesn't change steering/suspension geomtry in any way whatsoever.

WEll can't you just put one and one together, if the wheel is easier to turn, you'll be able to turn it more times cos its easier, thus in my mind that makes better handling. Well for me anyway.
Thanks

I hope you're serious cause its now on the list of what I'm doing to the car lol! If you're not, oh well lol! Have a good one! Also, how complex a job would that be?
Thanks
Troy
