Dead simple 18r questions Fri, 25 March 2005 16:12 Go to next message
Hey all.

I have 2 really simple questions, that are only going to take a line or 2 to answer. i just don't have my manual at my new house (it at my parents, 300km away)

so: what are the tappet clearances for an 18r? from memory, i remember a 11 and a 14, but thats as much as i can remember.

secondly, does anyone know the torque to be applied to the head bolts? i think it's about 55lb, but i'm not too sure.

Thanks in advance.

Nathan

my haines manual for 18R says:
head bolts 87 ft/lb (best to do this in several stages)
valves: 8 & 12 thou - but this is when warm

and for my 2 cents
the rocker support should be tourqued to 1.7-2.3kg-m (12.3-16.8ft-lb), may as well do while you are there with the rocker cover off
intake clearance 0.18mm when assembling ie. cold
exhaust clearance 0.33mm when assembling ie. cold

head tourque is 10-12kg-m (72.3-86.8ft-lb)

intake and exhaust clearance is as stated above when warm (coolant at 80 degrees)
