It really depends on what sort of car you want.

Sporty but still plush, the TT is the goer.
If you want every electrical gizmo under the sun, go the V8.

http://www.users.bigpond.com/pgscott/

One of the best Soarer sites around.

From experience of owning my TT Soarer for over a year, the problems I've had to far is nil, zero, zilch. Absolute dream of a car.

I think mechanically and engine wise both the TT and V8 are extremly good. No major problems with either engine. They are both very smooth and pump out a fair bit of HP.

One thing that can be a problem with soarers (and this applies to both varieties) is electrics.

The electronic dash's generally fail on the older ones (91-92 models like mine). Only $3 worth of parts to fix but a pain in the arse to do.

Things like the heater can stop working aswell. Once again not expensive to fix but just a bit of a pain.

If you can fix these type of things then they are great, if you are the type of person that will need a mechanic to do everything it could be expensive.

My soarer is a bit of a halfbreed...came like this when I bought it though.

Has Lexus badges on the front and back.... but still retains the soarer badge on right rear side of boot lid and 2.5GTT on front driver side badge.

I wouldn't put a SC400 badge on a TT, doesn't make sense Confused

I have the original Toyota badge for the boot lid, have been tempted to refit it but probably won't as the hole it left has been filled.

Cory,

For Soarer info go to www.northshoreprestige.com. They're a really good import place on the Northen Beaches who specialise in Soarers and Skylines. My mate got his 2.5 TT from there with 2.5 inch exhaust and 5 inch tips, EMS, 17 inch rims, big FMIC, 2 after-market bodykits (one for everyday and the other for show), electronic boost guage and turbo timer for 26k which is a pretty damn good price for all that.

Everyone else,

Does anyone know of someone selling an '88 Soarer? Im in the market for one of them or maybe an mx83 (for the 2j conversion ofcourse). Any help would be much appreciated.

p.s. Old school Toyotas rock!

I know this one was for sale a few months ago through Prestige Motorsport.

I wish I had the cash when the car was forsale and not now.

Hope another one will come up

Power output we have been told by the Manager of the tuning shop is conservatively 400 HP at the wheels, running mild boost (we are guessing at between 1 to 1.2 BAR)
and as he says, to ensure longevity of the engine. This vehicle was an entrant in the 2000 Osaka Auto Salon, and was built to demonstrate the skills of the tuning shop for
marketing purposes. It's now been a couple of years since it was in the Auto Salon and with a lot of other modified cars in the workshop it is no longer required. The car
runs perfectly. The mag wheels shown in the pictures do not come with the car, however it may be possible to obtain some other suitable aftermarket wheels for the
vehicle or retain the existing wheels if we offer the owner more for the vehicle.

1992 Soarer turbo

Supra 3L engine block

5 speed

Large HKS GT 3040 turbo

Wastegate and stainless steel exhaust manifold

Aftermarket camshafts and other internal work, almost certainly head gaskets

About 90,000 kms on the odometer, current engine has run less than 20,000 kms since being built

A'PEXi GT intercooler

OS twin plate clutch

Custom mufflers and twin exhaust

Custom "Garage Active In-house" front spoiler

HKS EVC (boost controller)

HKS F-Con V computer

Resprayed in deep blue paint

Numerous gauges

$27,500

Mr. Beach:
i will probably be selling my 88 model soarer in the next few months. The car is basically stock and in good condition. I have had the original 1g swapped for a newer one because the silly old lady who owned it before me didn't know what coolant is Sad It has a 2.5" exhaust and simota air filter. Runs standard boost and the new motor has 115000kms on it. I am in Qld. Where abouts are you?

Are you talking about North Shore Prestige or Prestige motor sport? Are you looking for an auto or manual? TT manual's are rare and usually a little pricey if you do find one. I dont think you will get a TT soarer for 10-12k. Maybe the SC400 or 300 but not the 250. But if you do find one for that price buy it on the spot and consider yourself very damn lucky.

hey guys

If you want a site for info on soarers go to
www.lexusclub.co.uk this is a worldwide club for soarer owners.
Secondly with problems a well treated soarer will give no grief and with the dash problem that might hapen to 5% of soarers or less. Soarers through geoff risbey can be low as 12k but add on tyres and on road costs. also these would be the worst condition ones to get.

Mr*Beach

I was talking about Prestige Motor Sport.

I am looking for an auto because I doubt if a manual would be in my price range and I don't mind autos (getting old ha ha)

The TT Soarers are by far the cheapest Soarers available. The V8's are full of electric gizmos and demand a higher price and the 300's are newer and are usually around the 16-20 grand mark.

Everyone seems to tell me I will never find one for that price but then they say Geoff at Prestige Motorsport have the cheapest. I am starting to think just get one from a car yard.

And Goku..."Soarers through geoff risbey can be low as 12k but add on tyres and on road costs. also these would be the worst condition ones to get"...that doesn't sound too good Confused

I'm thinking 12 grand + $600ish for tyres and putting a car on the road can't be cheap = a lot of money especially when Soarers in car dealers are around the $11-14 grand for good ones complied, new tyres and regestered and some with warranty. I just can't work it out. I am very confused.

Are the $11,000 - $13,000 ones through Geoff better or worse than the same priced ones in car dealers??

Hey,

you know you pay for what you get.
I wouldn't ever buy a soarer from a used car dealership which doesnt import it themselves.
Take it like this... northshore pretige motors in balgowlah import their own cars. They buy alot of cars and sell the lowest quality ones to dealers who cannot import themselves. After all some used car dealership selling barinas to pajeros to soarers wont know the difference between a good soarer and a shit one. all can be cosmetically made to look good but the real condition of a car will only be known to someone who has spent a while around them knowing what to look for.
Your best bet is to find a soarer private sale for 16k or so and offer them 14cash.. check the car just dont buy a lemon.
i would steer away from soarers which look like they have been thrashed. a totally stock one with 80k on it would be the best
as for geoff i suppose a good cheap one will come around he is an honest guy look for one where he says its in good nick and a bargain.. IF YOUR GONNA go lookin at cars id love to go with u and try to help you with the riught choice.

You say you get what you pay for...well I bought the cheapest Soarer in Melbourne (according to the trading post) and it's great. Stock standard. Extreemely clean. No marks inside. Still had the doillies on the seats and only 79,000 log booked k/s and everything works except the A/C buggered up 3 weeks after I got it Sad

I also got 2 sets of mags (Polished 300ZX and standard Soarer ones) and relatively new tyres. Even the spare is brand new never been touched. I am the 1st Ozzie owner and the car was only in the country for a few weeks before I bought it.

Out of the 20+ cars I looked at in Melbourne including $22,000 ones this was the best condition and cheapest. They guy selling it said he got no one looking at it and I wonder if the reason was because it was too cheap. For people out there buying a Soarer have a look at the cheapies because even though some are nasty some are great.

I think with the money I saved over one of the others available I can buy a new engine, transmision and re-new all the electics when they play up. I think it has to be a better buy than getting some of the $20-50k ones you see around!

Looks like a mix of kits?

Front bar looks like a T&E Vertex kit (damn I love those kits!)
Sides look like Explosion and so does the rear bar

But if I'm ever getting a kit on mine it'd have to be the genuine 1997+ kit, it suits the car perfectly.

Oh yeah, BTW my Soarer has the rear "L", but has the original Griffin and Soarer badges hehehe

But if I'm ever getting a kit on mine it'd have to be the genuine 1997+ kit, it suits the car perfectly.

Oh yeah, BTW my Soarer has the rear "L", but has the original Griffin and Soarer badges hehehe

actually the side skirts and rear skirts are from the INCLUDE bodykit.

the front bar is a T&E Vertex... no doubt.
