i'll vouch for the engine, i have given it a whole heap of thrashing in my ta22, but i don't think the clutch was up to the task.....however, opting for a 4age smallport conversion...easier to upgrade, get parts for and cheaper on fuel....
Strong engine, i'll give it that, ran without oil for a bit, then kept going......hehe
Crok.

Im thinking about doing the same thing!
if you go to cardomain.com and search under corolla, you can find heaps of old school rollas with 3TCs in them running turbos, nitris, and best of all running quick quarters, like 11s, theres even a couple of sprinters running sub 10s with turbo 3tcs!! they are all in the U.S, so i dont know what the parts availability/supprot for these engines is here in oz
sorry to hijack this thread, but does anyone know the difference in difficulty, installing a 3T as compared to a 4AG?
do they both require custom crossmember/mounts?

I've just done 2T-G into KE70 sedan, it's not hard. I used TE72 engine mounts and brackets with a TE72 crossmember. Steering rack mounts were donated by the KE70 rack and tack welded in. New gearbox crossmember for the T50, KE70 manual tailshaft fits. Hydraulic clutch is required, AE71 pedal box is useful for this. I've heard TE72 column is differently positioned and the pedal box assembly wraps around the steering shaft, so I'd avoid TE7# pedals as it could end in tears. Aside from that, it's all pretty straight forward.

as far as a 4a of any sort into a ke70, theres a model called the ae71, which is well suited to this task the main thing you have to worry about installing a 4age is the EFI shit, like loom, ecu etc. and the fuel setup. also, if you go a silvertop 20valve, you need to reroute the water inlet/outlet as it faces the firewall in a RWD applcation.
id personally just find an ae71, drive thaht around, save up for a 4age, and loom, surge tank etc.
and pull it off the road for 2-3 months and do the job properly.

just buy the whole t-18. use the crossmember, including steering and struts, and put these in your ke70. use the 3t, gearbox and tailshaft, and put the larger T series diff in your ke70 as well. it SHOULD all just bolt in
then ypu can go to an importers and buy a T series LSD

surely you would want to keep the rack and pinion, instead of going to a shittier style of steering?

Maybe buy the T18 and save yourself a whole heap of grief - save your talents for converting it to rack and pinion. You will have the best of all options then IMO.
P.S reading the apparently shortened version of the english laguage is draining and almost commands no response.

i got a T50 Gearbox out of my other T-18 but theres a Problem! Its a RA22 Celica T50 Gearbox, so the gearstick mounting is forward by about 200mm because there three different types of them each have different positions for the gearstick.
