White Smoke at idle

Hey guys, new member to the forum, what i have seen looks very good so far.
I have an ST185 that has an occasional white smoke at idle. The smoke smells like burnt oil A while ago i had the intercooler off and it was filthy with oil and shit through it.
What could be causing the smoke at idle, it isn't a constant thing, but still oil smoke is never good!
Regards Nathan

no it has only happened when it was hot, and only at idle. It is not a constant thing yet, and i hope is doesn't become a constant thing, i would like to fix it before it gets any worse

valve shims dont leak oil dude, however valve stem seals do..
white smoke normaly indicates coolant/water, but smelling of burnt oil you could of seen a light grey/blue smoke?
i've had my turbo burn oil at idle. at idle there is no positive pressure in the turbo housings that would help keep the oil from coming through worn seals, so i would agree with toyrota and the other guy's.

If its the turbo seals it will happen when you leave the car sitting at idle for long periods.
If it was valve stem seals it would happen the instant you turn the key and would go away as the car warmed up (unless they are really badly rooted)
