Calling Sprinter owners!

Hi everyone,
I am thinking about buying a sprinter soon, but I am a little concerned that these cars are not up to scratch in the safety department. Do these cars offer much protection in crashes, or will I need to install a roll cage to get some comprehensive protection?
Thanks everyone,
DP

i have no complaint on them?
well you wouldn't expect it to roll over and flip 8 times when it hits a bump or when your going going 140 and suddenly flips or anything.
you wouldn't need a roll cage unless your doing something that has high chances of your car rolling or flipping (motorsport or driving constantly stupid)

How would it fare in a head-on or a T-bone collision though?

aus specs have side intrusion bars. so that would lessen the blow
ae86 has front end crumple zones on the chassis rails (to protect the occupants)

Really they are a small, light car, and is gonna be destroyed in an accident with a larger ford or something. Like ae95 said the side intrusion beams will help with a T-bone, but there really isnt much room to move inside, if your a fat bastard like myself just try to avoid crashing
The chassis are pretty soft, they bend up pretty easily. Its not the car u want to protect the wife and kids thats for sure, we all know what the sprinter is designed for...

How would the sprinter's 'crash safety' compare to say, a late 90's Hyundai excel? Below, on par, or exceeds it?
Cheers.

Brook a friend of mine had an accident in a excel, hit a power pole side on (drivers side)at 60kms and it knocked her and her seat 50mtrs down the road, fuked her up bad. She's better now.

OMFG that is the funniest shit i have ever seen!!
that is comedy at its best.
COP THAT ALL YOU AE86 OWNERS!!
yeah, i love the Merc Sprinter comparisons.
anywayz, with concerns to safety:
if you crash, it will bend up in the front coz its weak.
as said, the oz ones have side intrusion so you wont get as fucked up as you would in a Jap one.
get an 86 they are cool i have an 86 it is cool.
just dont stack it! try and keep the carnts on the road not the scrap yard!
