Just wondering is there anyway of tellin if the timing is out without a timing light? and if i am correct it should be 10 at idle and should raise up to 12 is this correct?

with the engine warmed up and a wire jumper between T and E1 on your diagnostic box the base timing should be 10 degrees yes.
