Supra CT26 vs GT4 CT26 Mon, 13 January 2003 07:23 Go to next message
OK, so the Supra CT26 is single entry, and the MR2/GT4 is twin entry, but can you interchange the two?? I want to fit a twin entry exhust housing to a supra core & compressor.

can it be done??

thanks in advance

You will have to machine out the inside of the GT4 Turbine housing due to the GT4 Turbine being slightly smaller.

are you sure?? I was under the impression that they had the same turbine specs, just one was ceramic...

I'm not saying you're wrong, It would just help my case if you were Smile

You may find the Supra turbine wheel has a different trim height etc... and the housing will need to be machined. This isn't a biggie, most turbo shops shouldn't charge more than hours labour to do this, If you handy with a lathe you could do it yourself.
I'm sure someone could help you out with the tolerances.

just to confirm, you fitted a st 185 ct 26 twin entry turbine housing to your supra ct 26 single entry compressor and centre core?

We did this for Dave the events co-ordinator. We put a 7M CT26 turbo into his ST185 exhaust housing.

One question though, why did you want to use the twin entry turbine housing?

OK off topic but, you know you'll have to modify the inlet on the ST205 cooler and the outlet doesn't go into the St185 rubber throttle body neck right.

The 205 has the turbo further towards the gearbox so the IC doesn't line up if you use a Gen2 exhaust manifold and a Gen3 exhaust manifold doesn't fit a Gen2 head.

I was scratching my head for a little while wondering why people had been able to clock the ct26's on gen2's and I had no chance of clocking the ct20B on my gen2 as it would foul on the starter buldge.

hi, the st 165 has been fitted with a st 205 charge cooler over in the states, saved 1992.
im aware the t/b inlet is 55mm as oppose to 60mm ( 70mm on charge cooler outlet)

Wow Shocked this is old!

I swapped the housings cause boost response on my old 4AGE turbo setup was crap, and was trying to improve it with the [supposedly smaller A/R] twin entry housing.

Only by about 200-300rpm, cause I didn't have a twin entry manifold to match. I just ported the divider between the two ports in the exhaust housing to remove the flow restriction of the flat surface.

I knew it was a gamble for possibly no return, but had both housings so figured it was worth a try, for research if nothing else!

Cheers
Phil
