query: were these (MZ10 - povo and luxo models) all low volume imports (e.g. not imported by Toyota Australia)? or were some of them sold thru the factory dealership chain (e.g. Australian compliance plate, factory warranty/support, etc)?
I'm trying to identify what racing class(es) one could run an MZ10 in and have noticed that Improved Production (in SA anyway, and query sent to Qld body) excludes some low-volume imports and i'm pretty sure it does exclude personal imports.
i'll keep searching but thought someone else might have already covered this little snippet of Toyota corporate history.
cheers and tia,
Charles

I'd say they all came in as either personal imports or low volume, thats the same conclusion I've come to with the Celica XX's in Australia as well.

Good question.
I'd also like to know this.
I'd say they are all imports, due to the fact that the MZ10 has the M-TEU motor.
MZ11's and MZ12's would def be imports only.
But thats my guess.

As far as im aware they came over as low volume imports.. I once met a guy who used to import them..
I was speaking to the guy who owns alljap one day and he used to import them back in the day, imported a few non turbo 1g ones.. but mainly mteu ones
they were never sold in australia from a dealership in any way shape or form
