3S RWD conversion Sat, 16 April 2005 09:42 Go to next message
what's a 2S RWD setup worth?

i recently bought a SA63 which is an abandoned project. the car is mostly in pieces but obviously has the complete 2S, bell housing, W55 gearbox, starter, etc.

i'm tossing around ideas of building up a 3SGE RWD to go into a smaller lighter car, ie sprinter, etc. however i might just sell the lot.

what are people's thoughts

inlet manifolds
etc etc etc
the lest goes on and on

i was thinking of running it on carbies!!! but anyway...

i'm not so interested in the technical side of things, if i wanted to know that stuff i would search. and you would be aware that i posted this in the general car talk, not the tech section. i'm just interested in people's opinions...

what is it these days??? it seems there is a competition to see who can be the first person to tell someone to do a search...

My opinion is do the conversion. With a series 2 3SGE it is not that hard at all. You already have all the bits of the 2s to do it. Just have to customise the engine and gear box mounts - and of course a few other smaller things. But you would probably come across such things doing any engine conversion.

The BEAMS 3SG is a bit harder to get in. Two piece sump and all that, and massive inlet manifold. But if your running carbs that will make things easier.
