Sigma control arm problems Sun, 17 April 2005 07:08 Go to next message
I ordered a pair of RA60 tie rod ends as suggested after fitting sigma control arms to my KE70 corolla. But the tie rod ends currently on the rack are longer than the new Celica arms I bought!! What's the story here?

Thats odd as I have a ke70 rack and the ra60 inner rack ends were about 30mm or more longer than the ke70 ones.

You talking about inner ends, not outer tie rods are you?

Are RA40 and RA60 Tie rod ends the same? I use RA40 and they are well long and good. Shouldn't cost FA from a wrecking yard.

ok ok its like this

the rack end is the bit that the tie rod threads onto.. it has a ball and socket on the other end.. this screws onto the steering rack.

the TIE rod is the bit with the ball joint and where youy adjust the toe. this bolts to the rack end.

edit: just re read your question

RA40/60 uses a rotating ball steering box, and tie rods everywhere.

no rack ends since there is no rack..

RA60 uses rack n pinion. (ra40 uses steering box).

the rack end of this is longer than ae86/ke70 ones.

perfect for when you put longer control arms on.
