So people don't know what i am talking about???? Is this right?

Ok then for those who have no idea about this post i am wishing to put an LCD screen in my car that can tell me timing and engine temp, airflow, ect. Nissan has a thing called a consult plug which pretty much spews out in serial form all the ECU data. They also have numerous programs for laptops ect that can record and plot all these figures over time. I am wondering if anyone knows of anything like this for Toyota motors. or am i going to have to rewire or add my own sensors

I highly doubt there is anything off the shelf.

Your best bet would be to get a stand alone ecu, and use a laptop.

You can get stuff like that for later-model Toyotas (eg JZA80 Supra) but I doubt there's anything available for something as old as a GZ10.

So as you do, you do stupid stuff on toymods...

I can quite grasp what you mean by consult...

Are you trying to say is there any secret info they know about it???

Aaah, if you want to buy the software from toyota $4k+ then all the plugs etc to go into your laptop, you can do stuff with the ECU, but I think its pretty damn limited, Rollaboy borrowed it from his work once I think...

Glens 7MGTE in his new uber Soarer has an HKS CAMP system which does that to the factory ECU and spits it out on the TV. Don't know how it works though, and I doubt it'd work on the 1GGEU ECU, they are pretty bloody primitive.

Piss easy to do.

Motec M4/6/800 + advanced tuning features + loom + sensors.
Nice exxy laptop and 12 volt kit.
Nice exxy LCD screen.
Some tuning.

Home and hosed. Do you have the 10K?

The only question I have is:

WHY?

Continuous real time displays are a pain in the ass and take significant congnitive power to interpret - cognition that should be be otherwise devoted to driving!

Why do you need to know your real time AF ratio? Once it has been tuned and set to optimum, who gives a fuck what it is? Your current guages are placed optimally so that you can see shanges early and easily.

If you want bling, get these. Day R da sikkest uleh!.

I had the laptop open while driving the other night.

You seriously can't look at the screen and drive at the same time.

And its not a pissy 6" indash screen either.

Its a 14" lappie.

Whilst kinda on topic...

Would toyota be able to interrogate my ECU (4AGZE) and give me a report saying no faults found?

Cheers,

i agree with most of your comments but the fact however is this is what a NISSAN motor can do (and the kit is $125 not $4000). What i want to do is run a 4x40 LCD screen or something of the likes (will be about din size) in the gap above my stereo.

i want it to log things as i run a 1/4 or just driving. by combining enough data you should be able to do other things as well. Like calculate what gear your in and acceleration and other useless crap. it can also take control of other things like engine immobilizer and intelligent turbo timing (yes i am turbo less atm) (like only turn off motor when turbo is cool enough) volt's, current drain, stereo VU meters, anything i could be bothered writing the code for it to do.

And as LCD's use little power it could manage my car when i am gone. see when doors are opened, sound alarms, anything really. I just wanted to know if i can spy on things or do i have to run my own sensors. but looks like i will be running my own sensors.

I drive a GZ10. everything is digital. i don't want to ruin it by putting a big ugly analog gauge in it. this will be able to tell me anything i want when i want...

wasnt that $125 kit just a aftermarket cable to hook up your laptop. its not the actual nissan console control unit

id rather wings when im going fast enough...

but your better off getting an aftermarket ecu and getting it to display to the screen instead of the hand controller or display
