Heh heh ... yes it is - all part of ricing up the car. Rolling Eyes

Trust you Garth - I don't know of anyone else who worships the AE86 more than you ... Laughing

Even I have to find some escape in my KE20 - otherwise I'd get sick of my AE86. Razz

Hmmmm ... Ken Streeter's supposed to be making mould of those soon however I'm pass that stage of getting JDM Levin stuff. Confused

Even the standard fin grill's back in place & I just sold my other Levin grill. The wataru air slot grill's still gonna remain for show at this rate ... Smile

Car's gonna be used more for the track so all funds are going into the performance department, meaning that any comestics will only be done if it can be done cheap / ghetto ... Evil or Very Mad

Hmmm ... thought I'd put some pics on the 2nd page to this thread. Razz

Just got back from the Toyota day today - bit disappointing as there weren't many Sprinters which turned up today but I had a great time meeting up with a couple of ppl including Superjamie and seeing his KE25 in person.

http://users.tpg.com.au/adsl6ii7/TD.JPG

Of interest, I caught up with Ken Streeter again - looks like he has a couple of AE86 things in process. Of note are:

1) Fibreglass copies of OEM AE86 side skirts for $280 which includes freight anywhere within Australia and comes with a fitting kit included. Unlike the original, it's a 2 piece item however I am told you can't tell the difference once fitted.

2) Trueno front conversions - I believe he has about 4 coming soon. They are the Initial D zenki fronts.

3) Levin fin style grill badges - he also has a few copies being made. I think he's asking only $25 each.

And that's not including other AE86 stuff he has ... If you're interested, just PM me or something for his contact details.

Some more pics of the car taken yesterday then:

http://users.tpg.com.au/adsl6ii7/AE1.JPG
http://users.tpg.com.au/adsl6ii7/AE2.JPG

Also a rare pic of the Dodgy Haro garage which includes both Panda and Pokemon - can't wait to get the KE20 registered!

http://users.tpg.com.au/adsl6ii7/Garage.JPG

Also, the suspension upgrade is (finally) in progress after getting the HKS cambertops off SimonRX7. At this stage, all I can say is that the front will consist of AE86 struts converted to coilovers. We have our hands on some TRD shortstroke shocks and will be using Pedders components to manufacture shocks with similar damper rates. Springs will be firmer but we'll play around with this. Have to make the front struts first ...

Also we'll be doing the Sigma conversion and the rear will have lower shocks but I'll still be retaining my Koni shocks on the rear being adjustable and whatnot.

Finally, these pics go to SimonRX7 and MR2drift - Shano's finally got his car on the jig yesterday and is in the process of straightening the chassis etc from that crash he had down the Gold Coast a while ago.

Whole front was crinkled and one strut higher than the other by about 1cm ... it's amazing he won the last QR drift comp in this car ... Shocked

Hell yeah ... Shano told me yesterday he'll attend ... Very Happy

Unfortunately a dodgy braided fuel line meant his car couldn't compete in today's drift comp at QR raceway (which was a real let down). Crying or Very Sad

Hopefully his motor will be running at full swing in Sydney then - dunno but Brad claimed the motor did 190hp on the dyno last night whilst tuning the motor in a detuned state as it was just built the day before:

http://users.tpg.com.au/adsl6ii7/Motor.JPG

If you have a peak at the top corner, there's a bit of Shano's mug shot. Confused

Anyway, here's a shameless plug for some of Ken Streeter's AE86 bodykit products, these being not the standard OEM range he has but somewhat based on the vertex kit ... no shots of the front bar as they didn't get around to fitting it:

Front splitter has now been attached as the pics show:

A full front bar integrating the front splitter will be available in about 6 weeks time.

Hmmm ... the official response is that there'll be another bar put in place to reinforce things however I reckon the truth is that Shano was just a bit liberal with cutting things out of the engine bar ... Confused Laughing

Managed to get some more pics, this time with the front splitter on (however Ken Streeter will have a fully integrated version soon):

Lastly, I just realised that there aren't any pics of me car when I first acquired it so here's the before shots after 2 years of ownership - project continues but this is like a time warp - ah, the memories:

Well, I fiddled with the lights and removed them ... couldn't be bothered fitting new set of tape on. I go through my rice moments now and then ... Razz

Quote:

so what did u get on the dyno?

Not much above factory spec apart from an additional 15 bhp ... not allowed by my mechanic to say exactly what given the car is yet to receive any tuning however it sounds about right with the adjustable cams in it - bear in mind there's no straight thru exhaust yet and the air intake is far from adequate.

That said, some additional goodies have since been acquired, such as some RWD 4-1 extractors from Anthony Kellam over the weekend for $250:

http://users.tpg.com.au/adsl6ii7/akexhaust.jpg

As much as I want to fit a straight thru exhaust, it may have to wait - there's an air leak in the exhaust headers meaning my car is beginning to sound like a VW (once again). Mad

If we have time, we may fit them to the existing system tomorrow.

Suspension will have to wait yet again - the front has been made but matching rear springs are yet to be made. Have to measure the standard coil dimensions when there is some time so that new custom ones can be made.

Will probably need to get some new 5mm RCA's to suit as well ... Rolling Eyes

Finally, new alloys arrived today - limited / discontinued run of 14x7 gold rims ... can't wait to fit them however will only have some time in perhaps another week or so.

Am sure that the car will look great with these and even a more lowered stance once I can get things organised: Very Happy

Yes ... Gabe has proven very useful in obtaining Konig Rewinds - unfortunately this was a limited run so you won't be able to get these rims with gold inset however the usual silver ones are available. Get in touch with T3 ...

Fitted headers yesterday so now have a 4-1 exhaust and can verify there is a difference - more doughy down low but once you hit pass 4,000 rpm's and TVIS kicks in, the whole system comes alive!

More time spent on the dyno playing with the adjustable cams, timing etc:

http://users.tpg.com.au/adsl6ii7/dyno3.JPG

It even sounds a lot better / angrier:

New Dyno Video link (1.4mb):

http://users.tpg.com.au/adsl6ii7/dyno.MPG

And after all the hard work, this is what you get (600k): Evil or Very Mad

http://users.tpg.com.au/adsl6ii7/go.MPG

Hmmm ... other than that, got some PS arms from Max Misawa of the States - very reliable person so shameless plug for Max.

http://users.tpg.com.au/adsl6ii7/psarms.JPG

Gave away a set to my mechanic for fitting the headers in & dyno'ing the car. The other set will end up on the silver drift 86 ... Smile

Also spent today at the Jamboree - if anyone is wondering what Ken Streeter's fully integrated kit is like, here's a picture of Shano's car again:

Yeah ... make that 5 bonnets he's been through to date ... that's Ken Streeter's personal bonnet on his car. What you don't see is the cracked windscreen behind it. Rolling Eyes

http://users.tpg.com.au/adsl6ii7/crack.JPG

Apparently the nutter forgot to secure the bonnet pins at the last Drift Day at Queensland Raceway so things went flying in true Shano style mid-drift. I heard that he gave Darrel Appleton in the blue One-via a fright who was following closely behind ... Laughing

http://users.tpg.com.au/adsl6ii7/jam04b.JPG

Any contacts for Toyota NZ? Tried contacting them but they said they won't ship to Australia rather it falls upon the Australian branches to import these for Aussie customers.

Don't matter as you can get them a lot cheaper from the states. Smile

14x7's with -9 offset. Very Happy

Now the final touch (appearance / rice -wise) would be to lower the car more and get a black carbon fibre bonnet. Evil or Very Mad

Unfortunately, all funds are being diverted to the 2nd AE86 so it'd probably stay like this for a while.

Also, I just placed a deposit for another pair of XR4's for the other AE86 (this time 14x7 as well but zero offset). Rolling Eyes

Been a while but I think it's high time for a final update - I think I've got it to a point where I am satisfied with what I set out to achieve when I bought the car 3-4? years ago. Ah, sweet memories of 4AC days and 215 tyres stretched on 13" stocko rims ... Smile

It's been a blast and has been deeply satisfying, having gone the full monty with an Aus spec AE86 and attending to most areas of the car, rather than taking the easy way out and buying a modded JDM 86 - which is the cheaper way these days but wasn't much of an option back then pre-Initial Dee days. Given a choice, I think I'll repeat the journey again. Smile

Too lazy to list latest mods but I'll leave it to you to spot them in the pics ...

As I'll be getting a house soon + my days of being a single dude is numbered, it looks like funds will be tight this year. No need to worry - unlike other people, I'll be hanging onto my cars for a long time yet and have no intention of parting with them ...

I am also finding that having 2 great cars is a great blessing however you can only drive one at once. It's annoying but I have been rotating cars each time I go out ... the final pic shows my other distraction these days ...

Oh, and you need not worry - the AE86 has been tuned to a point where it outhandles the MX5 ... Simon mate - all my complaining about steering vagueness etc has gone out the window and has now been solved.

Enough talk and now it's time to just get out there and enjoy the car!

As to the future, well ... the only niggling things are interior (strip out, fixed bucket seats, rollcage) and engine (cams, quads, aftermarket ECU) however it makes for a great ride as it is ... Very Happy

Later ppl & enjoy the final pics - all future ones are for my own private viewing pleasure! Mwa ha hah ha Laughing Rolling Eyes

Yep ... you're never at home mate ... Felt stupid going down the road to find no one there so thought I'd make it worthwhile and take a pic at the same time. Rolling Eyes

Still here and car's running good as usual - not much has changed apart from some custom vinyl graphics which adorn the windscreen now ...

Thanks for comments though everyone - FWIW most funds now get siphoned towards my other ride:

http://users.tpg.com.au/adsl6ii7/Stripe7.jpg

You can spot my yellow pokemon in the background which has been gathering dust for a while. My backup ride if anything happens to my other cars.

Hmmm ... God forbid but the thought of swapping the 86 for either a modded Datto 240Z or Starlet GT comes across my mind once a day - any takers?

I have my 'luv my 86' / 'prefer a change' mood swings these days but I'm sure I'd miss the Panda if she ever gets sold ... Laughing

*** SHE'S BEEN SOLD !!!! ****

Well, it happened sooner than expected but she has just driven out of my driveway for the last time in my life earlier tonight - I didn't even have time to give her a final kiss. May the new owner enjoy her and take her to even higher grounds ...

I'll probably still linger around and (as usual) root for all the AE86 drivers out at Drift Days, in particular Simon AE86 and MR2drift ...

It is a sad day for me - many happy memories in the AE86 but unfortunately too many cars to devote my time towards. At least I got this AE86 up to a stage where I have had no regrets and enjoyed the trip along the way, learning important and valuable lessons plus making lots of friends and acquaintences amongst the AE86 crowd. Smile

I also have a lot of satisfaction from doing some things which had never been done with the AE86, such as:

1) having one of the 1st Panda paintjobs
2) being the first to import Konig Rewind rims
3) being the first to import brand new KAAZ LSD's from the States

Anyway, as I console my numb self tonight, here are some last pics of the car before she went:

http://users.tpg.com.au/adsl6ii7/Final6.JPG

For obvious privacy reasons and out of respect of the new owner, his whereabouts and name shall remain unknown until he decides to reveal his identity ... I will just say that it will be leaving sunny Queensland and going interstate.

I am also glad I did not get any tyre kickers too for that matter and was fortunate to sell to the first interested party.

Oh, and some may gasp but here's a pic of my new project:

http://users.tpg.com.au/adsl6ii7/Starlet.JPG

At least it is still a Toyota so I'll still be hanging around Toymods ... Very Happy

P.S. This is not to discount that I may one day return to the forums with another AE86 ...
