Sister of my girlfriend has had this sportz car for a while now - but after doing a headgasket she's upgraded to an Astra... so this it the beast:
AB Cordia Turbo
1.8 SOHC
TBI injection
stock turbo
5spd
16" alloy rims with Toyo Proxes rubber (over $600 of rubber with bugger-all wear)
2-pak paint except for repairs made in Mt Isa (bonnet). Has car-park damage on rear-left corner (see pics) and several creases on the front left wheel arch. Hatch has rust spot on outer-right trailing edge. Windscreen has crack on drivers side and will need to be replaced for a roadworthy. Otherwise, paint and body is in OK condition.
Interior is in good condition except needs new front carpets (heater leaked) and the right bolster on the drivers seat needs some attention (tho probably not for a roadworthy).
I got refurb'd head (just a reface and cleanup of valves - courtesy of Matt84!) to replace the fubar's unit, got new gaskets for all of the top end, and after getting the timing right, it seems to be running well considering it's been sitting for nearly 12 months.
I've re-wired the thermo fans and replaced the two dodgy fan motors - the engine bay has been generally cleaned up and loose wiring/plugs/piping/connectors fixed up or replaced.
AC isn't connected (unknown leaks), and the internal heater is leaking (but unlike any car i've seen, the heater core can be removed very easily - it pulls out into drivers footwell area. I'm, just too lazy to fix it - plus i want my garage back!!
Can be inspected in Brisbane from this weekend (23-25/4/05) onwards.
Car is now unregistered - pics were taken while it was waiting for repairs to start
This car is value for money - a turbo sportz-mobile ready to flog around Brisbane's hills - and once the motor dies, you replace it with n easy to find Galant DOHC motor. The tyres are very grippy in the wet or dry and even the old-style EFI and turbo setup produces great power for it's design and age.
i'll cross-post to CordiaPower (for those who were just about to suggest it)
