Toyota V8 into MA61 (2.0meg worth of pics)
|
Tue, 19 April 2005 14:20

And so I thought to myself, I've got this lying around the shed,
Why not mate it to this,
And drop it in this!
Lucky for me, on sunday, I turned this,
Into this!
So, up she went.
In she goes,
And BAM! She's in!
Plenty of brake booster and clutch master clearance
I even have aircon box clearance!

Maybe one could squeeze a decent zorst down there!
Sump is clear of crossmember
Gearbox crossmember installed
ALMOST bolts up, would just have to slot some holes.
View from the rear
Doesn't that look HOT!

Clearance for a fan/thermo's is looking good.
Question is, will the bonnet close?
She looks tight doesnt she?
Bonnets on, but won't latch down
Well, doesn't look like manifold is stopping it, will have to investigate further.
More pics later!

Shouldn't need that, I think something else was stopping it.
I kinda bent the radiator support bar take the 7m out.
Then bent it back dropping it back down to adjust the chain.
Then bent it about taking the 7m out
Then bent it back dropping it back down to adjust the chain.
Then bent it....
You get my drift.
So I have no idea where it should be.

Thats a nice fit... If I ever kill the 1G I now know that the 1uz-fe is a very nice fit.
However, how is the clearance on the driver side? That steering hardware could get in the way of the exhaust, right?

Hehehe, besides a couple a hammers, a hacksaw, a spirit level and a bit of rope there is nothing else on that board, but you can see a couple of socket sets on the bench.
Ans yes, the XX is still being cut up and sold, I just needed to test fit the motor to make sure it all fit.
Wiill be putting the steering shaft back in tonight and checking exhaust clearance (had to remove it to remove 7mgte dump pipe.

Bah, there goes that project now. My only other thoughts were to move the engine back 2-3 inches, and add oct throttle bodies
Oh yeah, that and widen the track by 52mm each side, and drop it on its guts with a completely breadboarded underside, decent aero system, 8point through firewall cage, and v-mount rad
Simple really

Yeah, motor can only go about 3mm futher back without the sump hitting the crossmember.
And I aint building a custom sump to get 1% better weight distribution.
Oh and its an LS400 motor for those who care, circa 1990.

Sensational.
Looks like a very good candidate to replace the 7M-GTE when I get sick of HG
Seroiusly though, that does look like it was meant to be there, and would certainly improve the weight distribution no end !!!

Here are the UZS131 Crown headers I modified to fit on my Cressida.
Here is where I scolloped the header to clear the Cressida's steering column
Here you can see it still didn't work
LHS in situ
Plenty of clearance (just clips clutch line/fuel line cover)
RHS in situ
Power steering can be bent clear
Plenty of steering shaft clearance
Maybe it would fit without the scollop?
Brake/Fuel lines seem to be squished between box and tunnel (too hard to actually tell)

Standard Front Sump oil filter extension
Oil filter would hit mount, I plan to move motor forward 6mm, should clear it then
Oil pressure switch and right-angle bit should aide with install
