That would be the bastardised name of a TE71/70 with a 4AGE conversion...

I dont think your missing anything, in fact I think ur pretty quick for assuming that...

Unless Im wrong... we'll have to wait for the TE gurus to come before we can make sure... Very Happy

You're correct.

KE70 = 4K-C
AE70 or AE71 = 4A-GE or 4A-C
AE86 = 4A-GE or 4A-C

and so on...

So basically its just a KE70 with a 4A engine, like already stated. Just modifying the code to whats in it.

Like if a 2JZ was dropped somehow into a KE70 it would be a JZE70.

AE70 is a bastardised toyota ID, in reality australia only got a AE71 which is a 4AC variant of the KE70 chasis. I started adapting the code AE70 to my 4AGE modified KE70 about 2-3years ago and the term has sort of become a popular way to describe the 4age modified KE70.

KE70 = 1300cc 4K

AE70 = 1500cc 3A (not sold in Oz I believe)
AE71 = 1600cc 4A

TE71 = 1600cc 2T
TE72 = 1800cc 3T (T18 in Oz)

AE85 = 1500cc 3A (not sold in Oz)
AE86 = 1600cc 4A

The engine type (4A-C, 4A-G, 2T-B, 2T-G) does not effect the chassis number, it is ONLY changed by engine capacity (3A -4A, 2T - 3T). Body style etc makes no difference at all.
