hey there im lookin at getting a car for a daily driver / week end racer just to do some draging, track work and if possible drifting im looking at around $2000 - $5000 for the car then modding it later.

a)sprinter (just remember they are cheaper over here in WA)
B) 93 Civic (then Vtec it)
C)CRX
d)Gazelle (S12 silvia)

well unless you want an old celica ie pre ST165 the only one you can drift is the gazelle

forget about a sprinter, they're fucking impossible to get here
everytime i rang up when i was looking at one, i rang at 9am, about half an hour after the paper came out on thursdays...

the call resulted in me being informed that the car had been sold, or had risen in price, sometimes by $1500!

Sprinters = impossible to get in Perth.

go the s12 gazelle, CRX's are FWD, Civics are ghey wif massif aides, Celicas.... not exactly a drift weapon... since the older ones arent suited to drift, and the newer ones are FWD/AWD.

if your desperatly wanting a drift car, save up $5k, wait for an ae86 to come on toymods, because people here know what they're talking about.

failing that, 2k extra will get you an sr20de silvia... my mate got one for $1500!

plenty of options...

i'd go the S12, they go for cheap and there's plenty of upgrade options further down the track. I personally think they're a nice looking car too.

The above reference to the older rear wheel drive celicas is interesting. How are these any less suited to drift than a 4AC powered Aus Spec AE86??? Rolling Eyes An RA23 for example has the same basic live axle setup in the rear end as an AE86. The only true mechanical/technical advantage an AE86 Aus spec has over this type of old celica is that the AE86 has rack and pinion. Apart from that, very little. The RA23 has good f/r balance too so I don't want to hear about the amazing sprintah weight distribution.

I would say that a TA22/RA23/RA28 would be worthy of looking at especially if you pick up a cheap one with an engine upgrade. But I wouldn't want to see a celica trashed so I won't recommend such a nice classic car for this purpose.

Get a frickin 4 door sprintah!! The AE71 sedan!! Just as good as any sprintah in every respect and cheaper too. Very Happy
