RA2x Rim offsets ??? Thu, 19 December 2002 02:47 Go to next message
Howdy, im sure this question has been asked many a time ..
What is the standard offset for the front and rear wheels on an RA23/8 ? Is it +36 or +33 possibly, i cant remember..???
Im sure the stock rims are 14" x 5.5 or something, but what would be the perfect offset for a set of different rims (15's x 7 maybe)? and which end is usually the problem when fitting say datsun or another make of wheels to the car?
Thanks heaps anybody with advice,

Cheers
Guy

Standard offset is +32mm, and you're correct on the original wheel size. These days most people deliberately change offset to get bigger wheels in without hitting the struts, or in some dedicated circumstances to affect the steering qualities of the car (this is affected by offset depending on the change).
I have run 15" Soarer rims (+20mm offset), and a couple of different Datsun type rims (+18 - 20mm), without much noticable change, however a set of 16x7" Simmons with an offset of +5mm (basically to get them in), gave increased understeer on the standars suspension geometry settings. Clint!
