RWC in Brisbane Wed, 11 May 2005 22:07 Go to next message
Does anyone know any good mechanics that are approved to give Roadworthy Certificates in Brisbane?
mobile mechanic or shop

I only knew one mechanic and they stopped their RWC service and now I'm stuck and dont know where to go.

I know there's heaps but I've had bad experiences telling me I have to fix this and that when I took it back to my mechanic and there's nothing wrong with the items they pointed out that needs fixing. And other stuff that they can charge you $$$.

thanks in advance

I thought most mechanics could do RWC's, are you buying or selling? Cause the few I talked to will RWC almost anything (provided it has good tyres) if you've bought it, not if you're selling it.

[Disclaimer: This is just a couple of mechanics I called, in the Cooparoo area]

In that case, Cool1 recommended KCF Rallysport in Redcliffe, and he was awesome over there. So I suggest the same place.

can they pass a car that has valve stem problems?
Blue smoke on startups

???

or will this straight away fail roadworthy?

get a drum of thick diesel engine oil, add some oil thickening goo and get car on that while getting the RWC - will blow much less smoke.

if the engine is constantly blowing smoke - particularly white/blue stuff then it will fail the inspection.

in order of questions:

if it smokes 100%, they wont pass it

yes - my 18R lost it's cam chain rattle, blow very little smoke and had heaps of oil pressure. Oil came from a guy with landcruiser diesel

no - it's not burning it hey? Wink

possibly if the valve stem seals and stems are flogged out

J & S Automotive at Moorooka. Ask for Callum if he's available.

3848 1674.

He does most of the magic mile, and is bloody good.
