89mm overbore is pretty common on the T-series to take them out to almost 2L, but I'm not sure it would be a great idea with the higher combustion pressures of a turbocharged engine because of the reduced wall thickness.

Any particular reason that you want a 3TG? They are getting pretty long in the tooth...

well the other options are the 4agze or 4ag 20 valve, or the sr20/ca18. The first two don't produce as much torque and the latter two are a headache to put in/get running?

your opinion appreciated.

I couldnt tell you what they go for, but I assume they wouldnt be as cheap as they used to be.
But I might be able to help you out with everything you need to put one in a TA22.
Engine, ECU, Box, Tail shaft, modified crossmember, etc etc

whats your opinion with boring it out to 2 litres and then running boost through it? bad idea? i just want it to produce plenty of torque so naturally thought of boring it to 2 litres. but yea, ill try and source one and then your assistance would be greatly appreciated, where are you located within brisbane?

Taking it out to 2 liters isn't going to allow a great deal of strength for much boost.

but leaving it at 1.8 litre with the right set up will produce good torque?

How do the "3T" and "4T" GTE's vary.

It was my understanding that the 4T had just been overbored and used a larger crank to achieve the 2.1L displacement. Of course other changes were made in order to get it to 500+hp as well.

i heard that they make the car handle like a commadore, and we dont want that now.

dont get me wrong they blitz in a straight line, but they are pretty heavy for a lil car. it'd be like driving a prawn trauller

With my experiances with 3T-GTE's i'd say go with an SR20-DET.
It'll handle alot more power on standard internals, and cause you a lot less grief. If I didn't have so much 3T-gte stuff i'd have gone with an SR20 this time, or a 1uz. I've wasted so much time and money on 3T's...
