soarer tuning Mon, 09 May 2005 03:04 Go to next message
guys i will be fitting a new intercooler soon (hybrid copy) a bit more boost around 12-14 psi plus doing a 3 inch exhaust for the soarer and getting a pod filter , now i know for sure the tuning for the car will be out by the time its all put togeter ,

so after its all done should i get it tuned straight away or can i drive the car for a while

im thinking of getting an apexi safc to tune the car for the fuel and uppign the timing to 12 or 15 deg

any places in melbourne that tune the safc properly

im tryign to gat as much as i can outta the stock turbos

any suggestions about what im doing

Is this a 1jz-gte soarer or a 1g-gte soarer?

In the case of the 1j soarer you will be able to drive the car around without ever tuning it if that is all the mods your doing.

As far as advancing the timing on a 1j? You will need an after market unit to do this, and if you're going to buy an safc as well you might as well look at a power fc.

As for the limit of the stock turbos on a 1j ,most people will agree on about 230rwkw at 14 psi.

you said on one thread you had an AFR of 12.6 down to 10????

if that's the case your running SHIT LOADS lean... 14.7 is perfect (stoicheometric value) my 18rc runs 14.7 on idle... after that it goes up from poor manifold vacuum (rich)...

I would just get the SAFC and lean it out to about 12:1 and probably wouldn’t bother with ignition. Does the 1g have knock sensors?
