Bucket Seats and ADR Sun, 15 May 2005 02:31 Go to next message
I have a few question on Bucket Seats.

1.Are Bride seats ADR approved?
2.Do bucket seats have to be ADR approved to be street legal?
3.Is it true that you have to buy from any Australian distributor to be able to have your bucket seat street legal?
4.Can a second hand bucket seat be engineered to be legal for street use?
5.What models of Recaro's and Bride(if any at all) are street legal?
6.If you have to buy from an Australian distributor and some models of Bride bucket seats are legal then who is the Australian distributor of Bride?

Thanks in advance for your help,
Steve

3. Most seats that aren't made for the Australian market (i.e. didn't come via the Au distributor or directly from the manufacturer with the intention of being sold to the AU market) will not have the ADR sticker / plaque.
4. Yes so long as point 1 is true.
5. Ask the distributor.
6. Ask the manufacturer.

Try a Velo seat, they carry specifically ADRed bucket seats as they are an Australian company.

Just remember any custom seat mounts you make have to be approved by an engineer. Even if the seat is approved.

A warning with the Velo GP90 seats, they used to, and I believe still do, come in ADR or FIA trim. It's one or the other, you can't have both. Don't ask me why. Comfy seats though, as used by Redwarf Motorsport! ( I have the FIA's FWIW)

Thanks for all the replies. It's really helped clear up some confusing issues on bucket seats for me. I might try Velo and see what they are like.
