forced...i think you had better look into this a bit more...if you sign on the dotted line to go to ADFA for 4/6 years...i think you have to pay the defence back with a few more years...eg 4 year course then another 5 years to the service???
i believe the ADFA only accepts people in the top 3-5 %...and are you doing the correct classes at school???
Best bet would be to call the defence recruiters... no strings attached

yeah i realise about the ROSO (return of service obligation) but im cool with that. at the moment my main concern is if they give you a whole heap of work in comparison to uni? obviously im quite lazy, but i think that a structured learning environment like that of ADFA will prob suit me more than a regular uni, where everyone seems to bludge and do assignments at the last minute.
Oh at the moment im studying (and did all last year) Physics, Maths method and Specialist maths (ie double major maths), chemistry, english and religion (damn catholic school).
Im getting low 70s in all, cept Religion (my 1st semester was a 45.3 and 2nd was 53.4. hahaha)

my mate from year 12 went to ADFA. pros are you meet new ppl, make friends and get paid while you are there. cons are for every year you are at uni, you must do that amount of years in service plus one. ie my mate is doing 4 years uni so must do five years service. if you drop out at any time you must pay them back for your uni time. but its a big commitment, 9 years... he loves it tho, in between uni work hes doing top fun shit.

Dont do it. If you're really keen then join a University Regiment. You get to do all the cool stuff and SAME training as the ADFA cadets but get to live a normal life at the same time.

But then everyone else at your normal Uni thinks you're a bit of a wanker. At least with ADFA everyone is in the same boat.
I have a couple of mates who did ADFA or a trade through the Army. Quite a few pros with ADFA but it is a lot of work and very regulated. It will not help that you are a lazy bastard because you can still fail ADFA and there is no-one to hold your hand and make you get things done. Better you learn self discipline before joining. All of my mates enjoyed officer training at Duntroon much better than ADFA. All of them are still in the Army a few years on after finishing their service obligations, but most are considering leaving to do something else now.
Although being paid is a benefit, I'd say get a part-time job and go to a normal Uni first (to do your degree) then decide if you want to join the army.
