I have a feeling the first one is illegal. Metal on the center.

I would have to agree, the first one.
I've never heard that the metal one's are illegal either.

that or get an old school wood grain one, question does your car have power steering or not. My uncle had wider rims on my car before i got it but they were bald when he sold it to me so he put the steelies on. He had had a new steering wheel on but because of tis smaller diameter they ended up taking it back off as the steering became to heavy. Oh and my cousin that drove it ain't excatly weak in the arm region either he was in the AIS for rowing so for him to say the steering was too heavy was something
oh and yeah top one is better of the two

Thanks for the pic stefan! I was worried it'd clash with the interior, but your pic helps me decide.
Ok the top one it is! I was going to buy the top one anyway but i was bored...

Not sure if the first is illegal, but have you ever seen any of the NRMA crash labs videos? In them, the head can impact the steering wheel - hence the manufacturers go for all the rounding and padding - their crash rating does not fare so well when the crash test dummy's head is split in half.
