Yeah 20L can happen....depends how hard you drive!
I often got about 350km's to a tank (about 15L/100kms)

Sounds like my 5M-E but you have a turbo and actually the 3S-GTE can move...
Have a look at the AFM / MAP Sensor to see if it's clogged or may need a clean and maybe your Oxygen Sensor might be a bit sad and needs replacing...
Check to see if your air filter is clean and that it's not sucking hot air (in reference to pod filters) from inside the engine bay *from/near the turbo* as that may also cause some dramas...
Hope you find the problem...
Cheers.

Don't even bother comparing metro fuel consumption.
According to my GPS I travel on average 25km/hr to get to work and back... I seem to get about 7-8km/ltr in this sort of crap traffic.
On the freeway I can end up with about 100+km/hr average speed and will get 10km/ltr or better.

wow so far all the ST165's seem to be about that same consumption, about 350km to a tank. I know mines a bit off cause the buggers over in japland 'tweaked' my AFM, so she runs a little rich
yeah what I posted was metro, on the hiways I get about 400-450km off the same amount of fuel

If you're getting 189kw out of it you must be pushing thru 60% more air and probably about 60% more fuel than us too.

Well i've never actually gone that far on a tank, i've filled up before hitting 750. But on the highway i have calculated numerous times that i get 8 (pretty much exactly) litres per 100 kms. So for a 60 litre tank that's 750 kms. I'm too scared to get really low on petrol.
So it seems like i've got some pretty good fuel economy... and about 130-140 fwkw.... hehehe.

i have its called a diesel, and the kei cars and smart cars are three cylinder turbos that probably get close to that if they had an average tank size.

i seriously find that many kilometeres bullshit... most ppl push for 400 - 500 hiway k's most of my m8s with mildly modified 2.0 turbos are lucky to get 450 to get from hiway k's

Aust162, cycleofabuse and toobs, thus far you guys seem to be getting more km yes, but you all also have gen2 engines, the rest here so far have gen1 engines. maybe they were a bit differantly mapped.

If you really think you have a problem with fuel consumption possibly you have a crack in your intake pipework.
Check the PCV hose too!

Is that so, well i was under the impression mine was 60 litres. I have also put in more than 50 litres on numerous occasions.
What do you other st162 owners reckon?

taken straight from the users manual on my lap atm
St185 gt4 - 68 litre fuel tank
thats a BIG tank for a 4 cyl - prolly adds a few extra kilos to the overall weight of the car - but for long trips its worth it

I've found numerous sources that say 50, but all I know for sure is that I've run out of fuel and put ~52 litres in to fill it.

dude yeah your souces are wrong, do you have an original owners manual, if you check that it will say 60L fuel tank, also I have had my tank out twice, and have verified it is 60L, if you want I have a spare one under the house, i can always go and measure it for you if you really don't believe me though!
and cycleofabuse no they never changed size over the years, buck's could just be smaller as he may have a massive build up of crap in the bottom reduceing the overall capacity.

Is it really possible to have 10 litres of crap in the tank?

well in the old box (sat onthe highway at 2600rpm @ 110km/h) i'd get like600-700km from a tankish it was magic (gold coast people i got from BP Commera to hollland park and back in 9-10litres and no not grand ma driving i did try each time on the onramps to brake the last 20km/h-120km/h time...so yeah it loved the last gear box...
this gear box (ya normal 3s-ge ratio i think 110km/h @3300 odd in 5th! but accelertion is better so meh...i get aobut umm yeah 400km fromt he tank in the new box!

with my 185 during the week i get around 650km to the 68L Tank (mostly highway, but also a bit of flogging about town) When i am on a trip tho i easily get 750km to the tank....granted where i go there aren't many hills, and i sit on around 115-125 (don't tell the cops ) All my car has had done is a full 3" zaust, and a K&N panel filter....and that also causes boost to sit at around 11-12psi when i am up it (which i very rarely am)
