12" 1500wRMS subwoofer SOLD Wed, 08 December 2004 06:00 Go to next message
I have one of these for sale...decided against putting it in my ma70...so its up for sale...

Looking for about $250. RRP is approx $6-700

Never been used so its in absolute perfect condition. would be ideal for serious doof doof, or even db drag racing competitions.

Has a 4" vented voice coil as well...and its made in Italy, ie its not cheap chinese crap.

its not 1500w RMS, if u click on the link to the manual it says on the left its 1500w MAX, and 700w nominal power handing to the right, meaning its 700w RMS.

actually, unless it actually says WRMS, it probably is PMPO which equates to probably the typical 200WRMS max....

i hate it how they put it in pmpo to trick people into thinking it's real kickass.... if you want to be sure, always look for the figure in WRMS or RMS... if it doesnt say so, then it's pmpo which is gay.

ok just to clarify... nominal power is NOT rms, it is a power level that it can sustain for a certain amount of time. RMS stands for Root Mean Square, basically with most calculations it is basically maximum power divided by 4, meaning approx. 375WRMS, if that.

Just clearing this up for people... sorry to invade.

nominal IS rms einstein.

Sorry..i only built speakers for about three years...who am i to know about power ratings Rolling Eyes

to prove it. Someone bring the biggest baddest amplifier available over and we can test it out.

Ruger - it needs an approximate litreage of about 32L, with large bass ports (75mm round x 2 @440mm long)

i doubt thats a typo cos i got 2 orion h2's that pack 2000wrms and 2500max... and they are only 10's... and my amp is 3000wrms which is in the for sale section as im goin up to 5000wrms..

not tryna bag out your sub or anything, just wanted to clear up the people who didnt believe it vould be that powerful...
hahah how good is it havin subs that blow doofers out of the water and set off car alarms...

dude its not that uncommon.
for example apart from my orions that are 2000wrms and the alpine type x which is 1000wrms. there are digital designs which are about 2500wrms if im not mistaken.. (these are all 10" too i might add)
so i believe that this sub is 1500wrms and if i didnt already have a good setup i'd have bought it already...

I have to doubt the validity of the 1500WRMS claim. Looking at the speaker (Provided it is the one in the pdf in the first post) the motor does not look any bigger than my 200WRMS Sony sub. I also have a 1600WRMS sub with a max of 4500WRMS thermally tested. It is an Adire Brahma for those that want to check and the motor stack is about 6-7cm. The one in the brochure looks about 1-2cm which wont take large amount of power without melting the Voice Coil.

I think it is still a good buy for the price, but doubt it will take that amount of power.

OK, here are the pics, the first one shows the size of the motor with a ruler to confirm the size.
The second one shows the size of the sub compared to a "normal" sized sub, as you can see the main differences are magnet size but also the rubber surround allowing a huge Xmax, and the spider is of much better quality. The third one shows the size comparrison of motors.

I am not doubting this is a good buy, I just am not a fan when people claim something that it isn't, then some poor sucker with a huge monobloc hooks up his "1500WRMS woofer" and frys the VC's.
Adire Brahmas are made in USA and retail for about $1100AUS.

are they neomidium magnets? cos my orions are hella smaller and are ooooh... 2000WRMS yes that is RMS check the website... here is a pic.
http://www.orioncaraudio.com/subwoofers/images/spl_10_hirez.jpg
so even tho the magnets on his 700wrms dont look that big they might be neo, so they take less magnet for the power.

neodymium is a LOT more efficient with using the power it is given, hence you dont need as big a magnet as a ceramic type.

so if the 700wrms woofer has neo magnets then they dont need to be huge do they? they brahma's would probly also have neo magnets.
but you cant say just because the magnet is small that they arent powerful...

I can vouch for Blake, having purchased some of his home theatre gear. He knows his stuff and I recommend him as a good seller.

Just let him sell his gear, I am sure that you can get in touch with him over msn or via a PM if you wanted to debate the topic.

hey mate, i'll give you $180 for the sub, have the cash asap, just need to know a few things. How friggin heavy is it!!Lol, anyhow with sarcasm out of the way, im a serious buyer, and wanting to know, how much would it be for a custom built box as you said above that you would sell it for $100 more with a custom box?

So if i give you say $270 will it come with a box, with it, IN THE BOX? i am willing to pay this much, as this sub is good, i've seen one before and i think my eardrums exploded Shocked

Where are you located - please say sydney.... and what amp have you been running it with, would an audison SR2x do the job nice? reply asap!
