22re questions

When i bought my ra65 the engine in it was seized because it had a screwed rear main seal and the owner forgot to keep the oil topped up.
Anyway we had a rebuilt hm engine put in last year January, oddly enough this one has a screwed rear main seal too. Apparantly this engine came out of a hilux which is means its a 22rc converted to 22re. What I want to know is why does the hilux 22r only make 75kw and the ra65 22re make 87kw? They both have the same compression ratio so what is it that makes the difference? Surely efi couldn't account for 12kw.

efi makes a difference yes but not to sure but my rona being pre 86 and a 22re requires 97 ron fuel according to the manual that may make a difference too although not sure. Another thing not sure if the guy is off his nut but in a 2sc quarter mile post the 22re is listed as 98kw for a corona, he is either mistaken or the mag is wrong or maybe perhaps the 22re has 98kw i wish.

ok so between the ra65 22re and the hilux 22rc, the short block is identicle, head, block, cam, valves, pistons etc are all identicle?
also i doubt a 22re has 98kw coz it sure doesnt feel like it compared to my cous's SSSn15 which is 105kw.
also does anyone have any good recomendations for a place in melb to get a cam made up or regrind?

everything should be identical... assuming late style block and head (flat top pistons is a dead give away)
I'm not going to go into detail about how different a car may feel regardless of its peak power, which is what you are describing.
Wade cams might be worth a look, I have yet to have any personal experience with them.

mmm yes well i have driven my dad's sss nice car but the 22re is a lot more responsive and will pull up the hills better probably de to its extra 19nm of torque and lower mass woot. Yeah i doubt it has 98kw either but my car gets along quite well. BUt they are totally different engine so you can't compare.
I know there are a few different version of the 22r but i'd say they are pretty much the same bar efi cos a lot of the ppl use the 22re efi system as an ugrade for the 22rc.
