afternoon of filming and some carnage.... Sun, 29 May 2005 11:06 Go to next message

we did a little filming of some different stuff, then on my 2nd go up a little ledge i broke the tufferoza. it aint that tuff anymore, it's going to be a 2wd one for a while now.

here is a small clip of what caused the following pictures damage... (PG rated, some language).

good thing i always carry a bag of cable ties in the rear pocket. cable tied it up so i could drive home. did ~50ks to get home and the cable ties didnt move a bit. Smile

i'll just have to remove the LH & RH drive shafts and plug the hubs, remover the front tail shaft and plug the transfer case, pull the whole front diff assembly out and run around in 2wd until i can afford a new front diff.... Laughing

Yes that will happen when you go from wheel spinning mid air to wheels not spinning with still full acceleration. Rolling Eyes

Yeah its great but thrashing a 4wd would have to be one of the most expensive types of fun there is repair wise. As per example.

Yeah I used to head out with some of my mates 4wd they were crazy also. It went like this week 1 thrash car week 2 fix car week 3 thrash car week 4 fix car and so I didn't mind was not my car if it was to crazy I would get out and watch. The more cars the more crazy some of them got until one rolled his patrol down the hill farked the car real bad. That was about the end of 4wd for me.

He landed it fine, did a few jumps at the same spot, I think his diff started leaking a few weeks later though lol

my mates and i are thinking of making a dvd called 'off road carnage'. hopefully it'll have more off road action than carnage, will be way to expensive otherwise. Shocked Laughing
heres the 1st go i had up the lil ledge, much more sedate than the 2nd attempt.

He wasn't going that fast, probably 40kph. The car weighs over 2 tons though and he got all 4 wheels off the ground!

Or was it Spit and Duck Tape?

Might be off the topic, but can't the Froza upgrade the front diff with something from the Toyota? Or does it have to come from Daihatsu?

Cheers.

Re: afternoon of filming and some carnage.... Thu, 02 June 2005 04:43 Go to previous message
yeah i beleive you can do a bit of stuffing around and fit a hilux front diff set-up. but they are a solid front end, the feroza has a independant front diff/suspension.
i've found one in brissie for a good price, so i'll stick with the feroza item for now. but i'll be getting someone to have a look at it before i put the new one in to see if there is some external strengthening that can be done to it.
another feroza owner had his front diff housing break in basicaly the exact same spot not too long ago.
