polyurethane suspension bushes Thu, 02 June 2005 06:08 Go to next message
Hi,

I've just got a new set of spring/shock combo. Now, I'm thinking of replacing the front lower control arm, Radius rod, lower and upper trailing arms with polyurethane item.

When I have the shock/spring fitted I had a chance to look at all these suspension bushes and they appeared to be in resonable condition i.e not broken or anything. The question is do you think it is worth the time and money to replace these (seem to be in good condition)rubber bushes with polyurethane one?

Will there be any dramatic differences to the car handling?

Thanks

It depends on the car, but generally speaking you won't notice much of a difference (if any) between good-condition rubber bushes and new urethane bushes.

But Norbie, you want your car to squat at the rear end. Laughing

Hmmm... well, I've never had a lot of luck with Nolathane ones myself, but Noltec and Super Pro ones do seem to improve things a little. I'd say get in there and do it!

Yep you'll definately feel the difference if you push the car hard - I particularly recommend doing the radius rod bushes, it doesn't elimintate all the suspension walk, but it certainly helps it, and it's a legal solution!
